Godzilla: Rulers of Earth Issue #4 Reaction Thread

Just managed to read this. Great stuff! I suspect our alien friends aren't quite finished, but what I DID like is that the whole arc of what Destroyah was is sort of more or less wrapped up here. I think a larger overarching plot with smaller arcs works much better than a small arc stretched out over 12 issues. There was some great artwork and I can't wait to see Varan in action next month!

VARAN!
The Unremarkable....

in the next installment is cool. Because it will probably be the first thing Varan has ever done in any story outside his first movie.

Finally read this! and had a blast doing so.

I think there is a Biollante reference/foreshadow in this issue as well :)

Matt Frank really excels at these Kaiju battles, and it was great seeing a 3+ way battle occur..

I think this has been a solid four issues and should make for a pretty compelling trade, unlike the last ongoing which had a miserable 4th issue

This was a great issue. The battles were awesome... really can't say enough. It's a shame that this was not the first Godzilla series IDW brought us.

Matt excels not only at the Kaiju Battles but conveying the personalities. I think that's been one of the key things so successful about his art.

I love his expressions in the interactions between Mothra's larva and Godzilla in this issue. Perfect!

Agreed. Zornow's work exhibits this trait as well. Simon Gane was capable of very good work at times and drew very accurate/faithful renditions, but often his kaiju came off rather stiff without much expression/personality shining through. Phil Hester was also greatly lacking in this area...
