i love Varan, but otherwise it's probably my least favorite MF cover. I just don't care for the composition... I AM really looking forward to seeing whats inside though. Especially after the fun ride issue 4 gave us

I just prefer MF's Varan to Zornow's, and that's most of the reason I dig this.

Even though Zornow is doing interiors for issue 5 and his cover shows a 56 rodan, the interiors will feature a 64 rodan like the one featured on the Frank cover

I'm loving the appearance of Sanda and Gaira. Very curious how they'll be worked into this storyline and what backstory and roles they'll play. By the way, I sincerely hope we haven't seen the last of Manda and Gezora in this story arc...

Issue #8 cover looks very nice...sadly, they're still hellbent on shoving GINO/Shere Khan on us...it's presence on the cover is like a big sh*t stain that just can't be removed.

Despite not being able to do origins, I am very interested to see where Sanda/Gaira come from in this storyline. I could be wrong, but isn't "Frankenstein" pretty much public domain (so long as it doesn't resort to Universal's iconic image)? It's probably won't happen, but it would be very interesting to see them very subtlety link the Gargantuas with the events to FCTW (ala HCW did with the original 54 film and GLegends#1 hinting at Anguirus' past exploits in GRA, DAM, and GvsGigan)...just some food for thought.

Also, I think Lucy is turning into a decent leading character. Nobody was a bigger critic than myself about the lack of character development in the previous two on-goings, however, it is silly and foolish for some to expect a character to be fully developed after just a few mere issues. This is Godzilla, not Shakespeare, so the lead character, while definitely important, doesn't have to be spectacular....just "good" would suffice at this point.

And speaking of the cover for issue #8, it would not surprise me if they also do a alternative/incentive cover in the same style, but with the villainous monsters or other monsters left over(i.e. Destroyer/Gigan/Orga/Manda/Gezora/etc). Frank did group shot covers of the hero/villain kaiju in the last ongoing as well...
