In case anyone missed it, Jim Ballard interviewed Takeshi Yagi about Ultraman Begins...

That's a good one, Jared! I loved reading his Ultraman manga in the late '70s and early '80s every month in "Terebi-kun" magazine! But, my favorite Ultra Mangaka in the late Mamoru Uchiyama!

I do like what I've seen of Mamoru Uchiyama's stuff but it's not really my favorite. I dig Shinji Imura's style so much more, though my favorite so far is probably the guy that illustrates Ultraman The First.

And yeah, I have the book now and it's AWESOME - particularly "The Great Ultra Monster War" (though there's not a ton of actual monster stuff in it so it seems a bit of a misnomer! XD). That story is crazy awesome and NEEDS to be a movie. There's a really great twist at the end that actually had me reeling a bit! There's lots of fun stuff here and it really makes me want MOAR. Really would love picking up the other Imura Ultra Anthology at some point! ^^

Not really. The monster itself isn't a zombie, it's just created from a reanimated human corpse.

It's really bizarre.

That looks very familiar. Viz Manga actually translated 5 volumes of an Ultraman Manga several years ago. I still have them all... very cool

Here's an eBay auction for all of them

There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.
