This will be interesting to see, once it comes out. Given the length of time and work that has been into the book, I'm sure it will be great.

I was just thinking about this the other day. I hope 2016 is the year where it will finally be released. Unbelievably excited for this

"As I said earlier, I would love to resume publishing JG, but until I see a change of heart in fandom where enough people are interested to learn about how these films are made, I will have to find some other outlet for writing and researching."
Sad, but understandable. I'd love to hear more of his thoughts on this.

Back in the '90s I feel like more fans cared about the history and making of these movies, especially the earlier ones. And it justified Ed taking the time to create entire issues of Japanese Giants based on one film, or writing a book like the Illustrated Encyclopedia.
Nowadays I find the fans don't hold the older films to same standard as people once did, and seem primarily concerned with power levels, fantasy fights, comic books and roleplay. And the more time goes on the more I see people really slam the older films, while putting more recent, mediocre films on a pedestal.
I know I wouldn't want to bother spending much time on future projects if I was Ed.

I hope this book is released sooner rather than later - can't wait to read it!
As for the 'new generation of fans,' well, maybe they'll grow out of it. We were all probably pretty insufferable as youngsters, too.
