Done with this comic.
In terms of overall quality, this is the worst comic I have ever had the displeasure of reading. And I've read some bad comics. I've also read some very good (licensed) comics, which makes Kingdom of Monsters all the more excruciating.
This comic reminds me of two awful things Godzilla: Final Wars and Micheal Bay's Transformers films in so many ways.
The writers, much like Kitamura/Bay, don't seem to have a clue what makes Godzilla, Godzilla or Transformers... the Transformers.
Bay doesn't understand that Transformers have the potential to be actual characters, not simply robot pets that follow the human "character's" bidding, catch them from falling, and then fight in the least coherent way possible.
It's a disservice to the license and to the fans to hardly include Godzilla in a Godzilla comic and spend far more time on moronic political jabs and poor attempts at satirizing pop culture. Powell and Marsh take all the potential fun out of the "monsters run amok in modern world" scenario with their bleak and cynical outlook on everything. Kingdom of Monsters will look embarrassingly dated in 4-5 years.
I said this from the beginning, but Toho really has lowered their standards, which is hard to believe. Kanye West references from 6 years ago, Lady Gaga, and Jersey Shore in a Godzilla comic? You have to be f@#king kidding me (not how most people would say it - "You have got to be f@#king kidding me." The writers couldn't even get that right).
Thank goodness for issue #1 of Gangsters & Goliaths, otherwise there would be no hope for quality Godzilla comics which the license deserves.
I hope the Kingdom of Monsters ends soon. I look forward to Powell and Marsh getting their sub-grade-school-level writing away from my eyes.
