IDW isn't doing much to cash in on all the Legendary Godzilla advertising, hype etc. It's pretty much all quiet over there and Ruler of Earth doesn't drop again until the 28th. Maybe they got something planned

It will not be directly related. The new movie and its likenesses fall outside of IDWs license

I dunno. I wonder if it's Toho dictating the heavy use of either Heisei or Mire-Goji (and his variants).
I'd love to see something like the Final-Goji, Mosu-Goji, King-Goji or something like that.

I think Toho prefers modern Godzilla designs being used, basically 89 through 04. And it's just easier to dial that down to the more rounded 94 and angular Kiryu suits depending on the story.

Since they don't seem to be able to touch or retell origins, i am gonna guess that Russia finds/captures Showa MG or that an alien force "provides" them with it with inevitable betrayal in mind.
