Lol that reminds me of a writer's workshop that I went to where a pretty succesful writer named Tim Waggoner was telling me that the physics in a lot of superhero movies bothered him and I knew exactly what he meant.

Superman picks up a gigantic boat...err no, there'd be a Superman shape hole in the boat.

Someone catches someone in mid-air as they're falling and they're fine. Um no, you still broke their fall instantly and they're very much dead right now.

Lol. When I write I try to be as observant as I can to things like that. Another example is in Kong 2005 they have King Kong jumping around like a grasshopper when real gorillas can't really leap at all. Ok, that's fine if you want to change that but I call shennanigans when I see Kong swinging from trees. Gorrillas are built like tanks, they don't do much tree climbing and for an ape Kong's size he'd need a tree like the big one in Avatar to swing off of lol

this one bothers me the most. like if Superman catches Lois Lane...no, his man of steel arms cut her into three easy to carry slices.

Now I kind of hope Godzilla actually does what is in the cover and then maybe bludgeons another monster using that boat. Just embrace the silliness (although I didn't really get bothered by the lack of realism).

Ok, I don't hate realism. I hate dark and gritty being passed off as realism when it's still not all that realistic.

Physics is pretty low on my list of "things that could bother me in fiction," personally. I have a pretty superhuman suspension of disbelief.

I wrote about some of my worries/concerns to Bobby Curnow over in the IDW forums as well as ideas/suggestions to improve these comics, and he gave a very nice and interesting reply, and I posted the most interesting and significant snip-its below:

Bobby Curnow wrote:
Regarding some of the things you'd like to see...

-Your 'real' KG. All I'll say is that I agree with your sentiments, I personally don't like GMK KG as much as previous incarnation. If things go how I hope, you won't be disappointed with his next appearance. We'll need a little time though, I don't want to rush him out, so be patient. I know that's probably a lot to ask after your dissatisfaction with KOM, but that's the best I can do right now.

-Gigan might possibly be my favorite kaiju. I was bummed we didn't do a Gigan Legends. We had a good proposal, but it had to do with his origin, which was hard to reconcile with Toho. That being said you will see Gigan in the future. I hope we do him justice.

-Re: MG... Yep, absolutely, we're aware of the other designs. But we can only use them in a way that honors their film roots. So Showa MG has to be an alien creation, which is why you've only seen him in Legends #3. Same type of thing for Kiryu, we have to work in why he's different from the other suits, which has been difficult to pull off for obvious reasons in our first year. That's why you've seen so much Heisei MG. He's the most flexible and fits the stories we've been telling.
But keep an eye out. We've got plans for both Showa MG and Kiryu that I'm very excited about.

Sounds intriguing indeed (would *LOVE* to hear what the Gigan proposal was :D But I doubt he's at liberty to discuss it). Despite some mis-givings I have about the direction of the up-coming Godzilla, I do appreciate that Mr. Curnow does seem to genuinely care about the opinions and feedback from fans. As despite what some might think here, I am going to give Godzilla a try and if it proves me wrong, then no one will be happier than me...

Yeah, I wonder what kind of Origin was thought up for Gigan...

Remember this day people. The day when wads were blown all across the world at the site of this cover. I want this to be a movie tomorrow please. Actually, that'd make for an excellent monster cast for a first Godzilla film.

Awesome stuff. AND Legends didn't suck monkey nuggets, so it's worth getting for a reason other than the cover.

No problem. I love how epic everybody looks, and how Hedorah is kind of just sludge, so he's just hanging out. Titanosaurus looks especially great.

I've really liked all of Matt's covers before this. This one doesn't do anything for me.

Thus ended the parade of fanboyish support for the Legends TPB cover.
