Well I finally got my copy of this issue and I must say I'm very impressed. I was expecting a typical style fanzine, but its more of a book with plenty of bright full color pictures. Its very glossy and professional looking. The cornucopia of articles is pretty great too, ranging from The Last Dinosaur to Gappa to foreign movie posters of the various Godzilla and Kaiju films, to interviews, to articles about super-heroes like Kikaida and Kamen etc. etc.
My favorite articles are David McRobie's article on Kikaida, August Ragone's article on Kamen, Mike Keller's article on the proposed American Ultraman movie that never was. his fascinating interview with Tak Sakaguchi (this guy took out a bear!), Robert Kiss's article on the Venus Fly Trap, Bob Johnson's article on an underrated gem Gappa, and Steve Ryfle's fascinating behind the scenes article on the Godzilla documentary "Bringing Godzilla Down to Size".
But this is just the tip of the iceberg. I found every article to be a fascinating read, and I can't stress enough how great the full color photos look. I'm already re-reading the issue!
If any of you guys are remotely interested in Japanese science fiction and fantasy films I highly recommend this issue.
"The gigantic octopus is a slimy, loathsome creature and one of Tsuburaya's best creations."
