The book went out of print last year (2010) — we sold the last 100 copies last year at the San Diego Comic-Con. You might still find the a copy through various retailers or on eBay. Thanks! :)

Get ready to fork out some big $$$ though. The Amazon listings are in the hundreds of dollars for a "new" copy.

Glad I got mine when I did!

My god! I...guess I need to search high and low on Ebay and the internets to find a copy of this? Ridiculous! Is there any chance of a reprint of this book?

Yeah, these English-language Toku books never seem to stay in print long, so I always snatch them up ASAP.

Saw A paperback listed for April 2014 release on Amazon. Is this true? If so, very nice. I have it but its good news for those who missed it before and don't want to pay a small fortune now. Its a great book.

Sweet, thanks for the info! I have the first edition, which apparently was being sold for like $300 bucks on ebay awhile back.

No problem, just doing my duty! Yeah, I have the first edition as well. But I will get this one too, if anything for the edits. Hopefully this will come out on Hard Back as well, I'm not a fan of paper-backs.

I'm willing to entertain offers for my original edition hard cover copy. I literally read it through once so it's practically brand new. Pages are tightly bound, binding is off the printers tight, all pages intact, no writing..basically I'd classify it as near mint.

PM me with offers if interested.

I always feel like an idiot when I forget to make a purchase like this and it goes OOP. Will definitely pick up the paperback version.

Gareth Edwards has a quote on the new edition.
"When I moved to America to start filming GODZILLA, this was one of the few books I brought with me. Eiji is a true inspiration, and a one of a kind innovator of special effects, the likes of which we'll probably never see again in cinema."

I went to Barnes & Noble intending to buy The Art of Destruction but snatched up this instead! I've read through the first three chapters so far and I'm loving it all, great job August! :D

Is there anything new or updated in this edition, or is it simply a soft-cover? I was looking through it at a bookstore the other day and it looked pretty much the same as the hard cover, but I didn't read any pages in detail.

Ordered this for a beach read and it just came in and oh my god it's a gorgeous book! I mean, I knew it would be about Tsuburaya and it would likely have photos, but dang, I had no idea it was also an art book!

I've seen this soft cover addition on sale at several Kinokuniya Book Stores in Shinjuku, Tokyo, usually grouped with the latest Godzilla book releases to capitalize on the latest film. The soft cover addition does indeed look nice.
