KaijuZoo Marmit Glow Getter 1 Robot

Postby KaijuZoo » Wed Dec 13, 2006 9:27 pm

Sanjeev wrote:And there's no signs of slowing down! I've got another KaijuZoo custom in progress right now...and a few more on tap!

KaijuZoo wrote:Will be chatting with you later this week as my progress continues on our latest GLOW project ....... ooohhhh, mystery sets in !!!

OK, no more mystery, Sanjeev's latest commission now has a place of honor in his glowie collection ... the KaijuZoo Marmit Glow Getter 1 Robo !!
Image

This was a very long project, given the huge size of the figure (about 14") and the incredible amount of paint masking to allow for controlled spray painting. I used very translucent metallics paints which allowed me to adjust the density of the paint and the resultant variable "glowability".
Image

And please be sure to check out the KaijuZoo Getter slideshow and the magnificent review and photos that Sanjeev posted on CollectionDX.

Thanks for taking a look and for your continued support !!!

KaijuZoo Custom Commission - Bandai GMK Statuization

Postby KaijuZoo » Fri Jan 26, 2007 11:59 pm

Check it out - the original 8'' Bandai GMK Godzilla vinyl weighs in at 8 ounces. After "statuization" it weighs in at a solid 16 ounces! That gives the heft and feeling of a statue. The process includes filling the sculpt pieces with papier mache and then drying for a few weeks to remove all the moisture, next gluing the joints in the proper position and then detailing the previously articulated joints with art putty to make the seams disappear. And of course the last step is the painting, the most fun part !!
Image
Click here for more pics of the KaijuZoo Bandai GMK Godzilla.

My client wanted his GMK to be patterned after a previous KaijuZoo design which worked well on my
KaijuZoo Godzilla 2005. Of course the GMK eyes and sculpt itself looks evil and sinister as depicted in the movie but the black, purple and gold paint effects also give him a regal appearance as is befitting the "King of the Monsters"!

Postby KaijuZoo » Sun Feb 25, 2007 10:20 am

Greetings,
I completed a glowie M-1 Jet Jaguar for a client the end of last year, and then that lead to another Jet Jag commission for a different repeat customer, this time the unpainted M-1 Jet Jaguar from the Lucky Bag set.

Here's a really neat before and after pic!

You didn't mention the Angilas kits at all, John. LOL

Lookin' good so far! I though the left arm on the Angilas was supposed to be raised? Am I wrong?

Oh yeah, and the three Marmit Angilas kits, ... ok so call me a goof !!!

The left arm is raised about an inch, just doesn't show well in the downward view of that pic. The Marmit original pic shows it way higher but it was not designed to "click in" that high, that would have shown a large area of skin texture mismatch. It will look cool, not to worry. The mouth is fully painted, I had to do that prior to glueing in order to reach into that small back area. The joints are now all detailed and next comes the rest of the main body painting.

And here is some KaijuZoo "value-added" detail on this kit. The Marmit lower jaw hinge design has no physical mechanism to prevent the glue line from breaking loose with a jolt or small bump. Here is my own invention to prevent any such problem from occurring .... patent pending !! 8-)

Man, the level of detail and accuracy on those heads is absolutely amazing. Hell, I'd have no problem displaying an unpainted kit just to show the raw detail of the sculpt.

And the arm closer to the ground just looks more natural anyway, so I'm not bothered.

Can't wait to get mine, John!

So John, what's the early word on the golden '54's?

^^^ (I really want one!)

Anyway, think we'll get a diamond-coated '54 Bandai for his sixtieth anniversary? :D

Love that Gold G'54! These projects look fun!

Hey Kaijuzoo, I haven't heard back from you with my e-mail response about the Anguirus Marmit kit. Since I don't want to make a mess here, can you e-mail me on how you want to proceed? Thanks.

Hey John, as others have said, that gold '54 Goji looks great! And that Atelier GMK kit looks like it will be fun as well. As for the Marmit Anguiri(sp?)I know that those back spines were a real bear to paint, it would have been a lot easier if each one would have been a separate piece...I'm really looking forward to seeing your take on this kit! As for myself, I now have to decide which kit I'm going to tackle next. I have the Billiken '64 Godzilla, the big West Kenji Godzilla from GXMG, Paradise Mothra, And Wave H/O scale Maser Tank to choose from. Right now I'm leaning toward starting the West Kenji first, the sculpt looks great. Hopefully I can do it justice!

Hey Tim, you talking about the Bandai 6'' 'G'54 from the earlier thread or the Banpresto? The KaijuZoo Bandai series kept getting pushing back due to the surge of commissions this past winter. They should be ready in another 6 weeks or so, I just need to complete the current workload and zero in on that project to wrap it up.

Completed - KaijuZoo Exclusive Series - Marmit Anguirus '68

Yes, tell me about it Bill - I finally completed my three Anguirus kits - that's THREE sets of spines, all hand painted as it is impossible to airbrush two-tone paint that close. Whew!!!

So anyway, my three clients have already seen the final pics so here is a sneak peek look for the list (I am still working on finalizing the web page).

How much would one of those Anguirus kits cost and how much would it cost to get you to do your thing with it, KaijuZoo?
