Miiiiiike, (sounds like Luuuuuuuke), you KNOW that you want to come over to the dark side of KaijuZoo exclusive and custom figures, make the move now !!!!

Seriously, thanks for your compliment! I'd love to discuss a KaijuZoo commission with you. With such a large and varied kaiju collection such as yours, surely you have room for a figure that is a ONE OF A KIND in the world ??!!

Beauty IS in the eye of the beholder and that is one reason why I enjoy working on client commissions for my 3-dimensional kaiju art. Some customers have their own paint and application concepts; others give me latitude to paint what I feel the end result should look like. With completed and pending projects included, I am right at 85 SOLD KaijuZoo exclusive and custom figures, a track record that I am very much proud of.

Latest Kaijuzoo Commission - M-1 Glow MechaGodzilla '75

Postby KaijuZoo » Sun Jul 02, 2006 8:15 pm

Greetings,
I completed the KaijuZoo M-1 glow Titanosaurus a few weeks ago and am
now ready to reveal its partner, the M-1 glow MechaGodzilla '75. They were commissioned by the same client and we are BOTH very much pleased with the marvelous results.

And who is going to G-Fest this weekend? I'll be there so please be sure to introduce yourself, and especially if you would like to consider or discuss any custom KaijuZoo painting projects.

As always your work never fails to impress me, your "versions" of these glow figs always look much more impressive than they do in their original, untouched factory-finished incarnations (both in and out of the dark!), it's a shame they don't put as much time and effort into their own figs as you do...a very enthusiastic thumbs up from me :!: :th-up:

Hey many thanks to you GFan54 for your props, very much appreciated!

G-Fest was a nice boost for my small kaiju business. My wife and I were there all three days, passing out color KaijuZoo flyers and meeting with many fans of my three dimensional kaiju art. I now have 8 custom commissions underway and have 4 KaijuZoo exclusives in various stages of development.

Anyone interested in some custom work (see latest example below), just visit my site and send me an email.
Thanks again!

Great work! I am glad you were able to do such a great repair on the client's figure. I am sure it must have been horrifying for him to open that up and see the damage but it looks like you've made it good as new. :)

wow KaijuZoo, do you think you can restore the King Scale Godzilla 1993 DX Remote Control Godzilla? The thin rubber skin is all scrackled up with the joints all ripped. I'd like to restore it someday if its possible.

Hi Andrew, I missed seeing this earlier question: my guess is that the rubber has oxidized or the skin was too thin to begin with .... I had good success with rebuilding the "humpty dumpty" vinyl Godzilla noted above but this rubber skin one sounds too fragile to be worth the effort or investment., sorry.

KaijuZoo M-1 Monochrome Godzilla 2000

Postby KaijuZoo » Sun Sep 10, 2006 2:46 pm

I've been busy lately with completing some more custom KaijuZoo commissions, thought you might like to take a look !!

Image
This commission used the M-1 Lucky Bag unpainted Godzilla 2000 and my client's concept is based on the opening B/W sequence in "Godzilla vs. Megaguirus" which pays homage to the film stylization used in the 1954 first Godzilla movie, very cool outcome!

KaijuZoo Bandai Ghido-Goji Godzilla 1991

Postby KaijuZoo » Sun Sep 10, 2006 5:39 pm

And here's the webpage for the next one:
Click for KaijuZoo BANDAI GHIDO-GOJI GODZILLA
This Closed Mouth Godzilla commission was a restoration to repair the mishaped back, tail and feet and then it was detailed with the "statuization" process. That means that the joints were glued up and detailed to become seamless and then the sculpt was filled with papier mache to make it feel dense and heavy like a statue.

It is nice that this Ghido-Goji has been resurrected from the bottom of the toy box !!

And now for the last of the three projects I've completed this week
- click here for the KAIJUZOO Y-MSF HEDORAH webpage.

Image
And I can't believe how cool my Hedorah LightShow came out !!
Playing around in my photo studio, I used three different flashlights with a slow exposure,
almost looks like some of the dark, eerie scenes from the movie.

So click here to see the complete KaijuZoo Hedorah LightShow SlideShow.

Enjoy the pics and please do let me know what you think about these projects and of course whether you'd like to consider any KaijuZoo commissions of your own (I am quickly approaching my 100th project anniversary !!!).

Hey, Jonee! It's Tim - I finally got my account working.

My custom Godzilla (1991 Korean-issue "Closed Mouth" Godzilla) is amazing. A favorite Godzilla design (Bio-Goji) with an extremely cool custom statuization (I love this word) and paint job. Definately much better than the near paint-less and warped '91 figure I got at the begining of the summer.

I got it standing on my computer's tower right now so it's out of the way of my books and such and won't get knocked around at all. I think it looks a lot better in person, but those pictures do very well to make it seem as cool as it is.

Thanks again - Tim

Hey Tim, Great to see you now on the ClubTokyo forums, big welcome to you and many thanks for your swell compliments !!

By way of explanation for those interested, "statuization" is a term that Tim coined to describe part of the process I developed and used to rebuild his Bandai G'91.

The statuaization concept is to take an articulated vinyl figure and make it look and feel more like a heavy, solid statue. All parts are disassembled and then filled with either papier mache or shredded and compacted heavy paper. This step gives the figure the extra weight and also prevents further vinyl warping. Next, the pieces are reassembled, posed and then glued into place. Next comes the step to fill the exposed joints with artistic hard putty and then modeling tools are used to detail the textures to make the joints less noticable, almost seamless. And then of course, the last step of priming and painting.

The Bandai Godzilla 1991 weighed 7 ounces before statuization and a hefty 17 ounces afterwards. For reference, I used the similar process for some of my previous exclusives and customs, namely the:

KaijuZoo Meltdown Godzilla '95 series of 10

KaijuZoo Bandai Battle Damaged Godzilla 2003

http://www.kaijuzoo.com/bg95.html

KaijuZoo Bandai Ghido-Goji Godzilla 1991
http://www.kaijuzoo.com/kzg91.html

I am also almost finished with statuization on my series of 10 Bandai Godzilla 1954 figures, I hope to be able to offer them mounted on a wooden base.

Again Tim, welcome aboard and thanks again!

wow...first post!

Postby Sanjeev » Thu Sep 14, 2006 5:37 pm

Finally got my accout working...

Hey all! First post, obviously!

Some folks may recognize my name from ToyboxDX--I primarily post on that board about Japanese robot toys. But, hey, a significant piece of that community are big vinyl kaiju fans, too!

Here's my particular niche when it comes to kaiju toys:
Image
GLOWIES!!

Heck, I love 'em. Can't get enough of 'em. The shot above is about 2/3 of my glowie collection, and I love each one like they're my babies!! :D (aiight, that may be a bit weird...but you get my drift!)

Anyway, why am I introducing myself in this KaijuZoo thread? Well, it's simple: Jonee is the man!

Ya see that glow Manda right in the middle of the group? Ya? Ya, well he did that! That's right!
http://toyboxst.inwards.com/phorum/read ... msg-143979

My second glowie ever. Before that, I had M1's glow Reptilicus (love that train wreck of a movie, damnit!). Together, they were pure love:
Image

The glowie obsession just took off from there. I've done a few customs/modifications to existing glowies or filled translucent vinyls with glow gravel from ReadySetGlo.com.

The jewels of the collection, however, have been all KaijuZoo! Since Manda, I've gotten two more pieces from Jonee that you'll recognize from his pics above:
http://toyboxst.inwards.com/phorum/read ... msg-150309

And there's no signs of slowing down! I've got another KaijuZoo custom in progress right now...and a few more on tap!

So, I've gotta give it up to the man. His work speaks for itself. The pics are great, but when you see these in person, it's just a whole new experience! If you've got a vinyl you'd like to spice up, glowie or not, I'd strongly recommend dropping Jonee a line!

Peace![/img]

You know whats weird...out of the hundreds of vinyl figures I own only three glow in the dark: an M-1 Matango, a Marmit Dagora and a medium Jet Jaguar repro from that M-1/Bullmark egg set.

Tim

It's a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Godzilla 1954 using the Bandai Movie Monster series sculpt. As noted above, my exclusive series is "statuized" (filled with papier mache and all joint seams glued and detailed) and my original plan was to paint them with an antiqued bronze paint concept - see examples and prototype below:
Image

Image

 ... BUT now that I've seen the cool upcoming Marusan Gold G54, I'm rethinking the bronze paint scheme and wondering about going with a bright antiqued gold instead. After all, the 50th is considered the GOLDEN anniversary.

What does everyone think - should I make it like a standard bronze statue or a more unique golden one? :?:

So from the Seinfeld episode, you're saying "It's gold, Jerry, it's GOLD !!!"

And as a reminder, here is what the Marusan gold looks like, it is a very sweet effect !!
http://vinylkaiju.com/marusanggoji.jpg

On the other hand, the last true bronze painted vinyl by Bandai was the ONLY one, the very hard to find Bronze GMS Mosu-Goji. So bronze is also a strong contender.

Ok, Mike has cast his vote for gold. Others?

A very hearty welcome to ClubT for you, Sanjeev !! Thank you so much for your continued support and kind comments. Just to brief everyone else and to summarize your above post, Sanjeev is the proud owner of three KaijuZoo custom GLOW IN THE DARK commissions, namely:

M-1 Glow Manda
http://www.kaijuzoo.com/manda2.html

M-1 Glow Titanosaurus
http://www.kaijuzoo.com/m1titano.html

and M-1 Glow MechaGodzilla '75
http://www.kaijuzoo.com/m1mg75.html

I am a hard person to please when it comes to attention to detail and quality so I always drive myself to do my best ... I too think that these are some KICK ASS figures!! And Sanjeev's photos are really great as you can see above, he has a real knack for capturing the exposure and composition in photos of his collection.

Will be chatting with you later this week as my progress continues on our latest GLOW project ....... ooohhhh, mystery sets in !!!

Oh, by the way, GOLD or BRONZE G'54?

I think we should move to get "Statuized" in the dictionary or something.

I made up a word, people.

Anyway, I'd say gold. It's the 50th (was the 50th, technically it's still his Americanized 50th) Anniversary and I think a golden anniversary toy would rock.

Yeah, we only had one bronze, but who cares about bronze really?

Gold is a much more value-instituting choice in my opinion, I think it would be really awesome.
