Although I haven't priced them in quite a while, one thing I used before I got my display cases were lawyer book shelves. At least, that's what I think they were called. They looked like conventional book cases, but had a glass door which folded down from the top of each shelf. When I bought mine, they were readily available (and fairly cheap) at most department stores such as K-Mart. The glass doors did a nice job of cutting down on how frequently I had to dust the figures within, the only problem was that I had to make modifications so that I could add some fluorescent lighting.
