And yeah the uniform packaging was something that was forced upon them rather than NECA's choice. I'm sure they'd rather have individually-designed packaging for each of their figures, as they do with most of their others. But chance are, if this is any indication, that could lead to a lot more delays like this as a result.

Packaging shots for the 62 Godilla have been released and I'm not sure which is more badass, that packaging or to learn that Godzilla includes a breath effect piece.

It already puts that $100, poorly painted, lipstick wearing MonsterArt to shame.

Oh yes, that does look nice! I really like how they're using the Japanese poster artwork. I'm always a fan of any time a classic monster movie collectible or DVD/Blu-ray etc. uses retro poster art in its presentation in some way.

More images of Godzilla 1962 were released a few weeks ago:




The jaw looks a little wonky, and the tail still looks like it needs more joints, but overall the figure is looking very good. It sounds like the figure is currently scheduled for late February, but I think it will be worth the wait.

The Goji'62 looks GREAT!! Can't wait to pick it up. Hopefully NECA will do a 1964 or 1968 Goji next!

I'm most excited for Rodan, but all of these look quite good for their price range - MSRP is supposed to be about $28.
Oddly, though, there are rumors/talks that Ghidorah hasn't even been planned yet. The evidence doesn't seem concrete (Randy Falk's Twitter responses seem unreliable), but hopefully we can see the destroyer of worlds down the line for a better price than Tamashii demands.

I imagine the no doubt enormous and expensive King Ghidorah figure will be contingent on how the sales of these figures and the success of the movie shake out.

I love that Mothra & Rodan come with cool little display bases too! For $30 each these are going to be a steal! Hopefully NECA will put King Ghidorah on the schedule soon, it would really suck to have to buy the SH Monster Arts KG to make up for it.

NECA really seems to have nailed that Rodan sculpt with ease. Mothra second.

I might even have to buy this Rodan and this is coming from a guy who said "No more buying toys."

I generally think the NECA figures stink on ice, which is why I never post here ("if you can't say anything nice..."), but these actually look pretty good! Nice sculpts, good proportions...and of course, good prices. These should sell well.

Yeah, of the handful of NECA Godzilla figures I’ve owned, the only one I’ve kept is the 6 inch tall G’14 (it’s actually a pretty great figure and easily the most screen accurate sculpt in the scale) . Every other one I’ve either sold off or chosen not to buy upon seeing it in hand.

But these look quite good. Possibly even better than their 2014 figure. Which is making it really hard for me to choose whether to go with this of MonsterArts figures. I mean, I’m holding out until I actually see the movie before I decide to buy anything. But if I do like it we’ll enough to want the monsters in figure form, this is a genuinely tough choice. I think each line has some very strong pros and cons to consider. I might even go with a mixture of the lines on a per-figure basis.

But still, gotta see the movie first...

I understand we love this stuff but when grown men are outraged over a company not making a toy... Geesh...

I saw that. I honestly don't know how they put up with all the entitled fans on a normal basis, but this Ghidorah stuff is at a different level and really embarrassing as a Godzilla fan

I’ve not bothered to read many of the actual twitter posts but I have seen the resulting discussion about the blow up on TK. Sounds like pretty much everyone involved is culpable. It sucks that fans can’t discuss their desires, disappointments, and feelings in a civilized manner. But it also sucks that NECA can’t find a spokesperson who isn’t a total jerk that intentionally antagonizes his customer base.

Regarding Ghidorah specifically, it’s pretty lame on Neca’s part that they very much did say they were making all four only to renege now. And it sucks for those who were looking forward to having the whole lineup from a consistent brand at a lower price point than import figures. But the petty childish outrage (from both sides) is ridiculous. Such is the internet though, life will go on.

For me, I was torn between the NECA and SHMA lines. But knowing Ghidorah is highly unlikely and considering the rude and unprofessional interactions with their fans online (which predates the ghidorah mess) has really soured me on NECA. If I like the movie and decide to get the figures, I’ll likely be avoiding NECA now and looking at Bandai (both U.S. and Japan) and Jakk’s offerings.

I'm going to buy NECA's Godzilla '19, Rodan and Mothra and I just pre-ordered SHMA's King Ghidorah (YOLO!). It's a pity they're not making him (even after their impressive deluxe Otachi figure for PR!), but at least the SHMA is in the same scale so I'm happy.

Now can we all agree Bandai's Rodan '19 vinyl looks AWFUL??

It definitely does from the toy catalog but I want to get a better-quality pic of it to make a proper judgment. It's certainly not a priority simply because of the design with the single-piece body.
