I'm really happy to see how many people are getting on board with NECA. Finally, people are breaking out of that "tamashii only" mentality (well, some people, anyway).

If the large scale NECA Godzilla ends up costing as much as a standard MA release, I'm gonna bust a gut.

It's an improvement, but I still think the MA looks better. It's up to the collector which version they want to pick up (or not pick up in my case as I'll not be picking up any of these). I can say that usually, my preference is to ignore the cost and get the very best version of the character I want. In this case, it'd probably be the MA...but because of the size difference, if I dug this design enough to collect it, I could easily see myself getting the MA, the Bandai AND a good 12 inch figure (NECA or X Plus).

Just depends if the price is more of an issue or if you want the most premium version of the character currently on the market. (I say that not even owning an MA figure currently and as a person who doesn't even like super-articulated figures)

The foot-tall NECA Godzilla looks quite tempting, but gotta see how the final product turns out. The fact that it has to make room for electronics as well as the articulation might lead to some kind of quality issue the sturdy 6" version definitely doesn't have.

In other NECA news, this is the first I've seen the full set of the WizKids minifigures. I expected nothing but Godzillas here, but surprisingly, we also get both Mutos!



The classic Godzillas in the set still look mediocre, while the LegendGojis and Mutos look fantastic for their size.

Well the Revoltech Legion was also a small figure too. It's about half the size of the SHMonsterarts Godzilla 94 in mass. Asking for $120-200 for a creature that would be in scale with other Monsterarts, a character that is anywhere between 140-200 meters in size is not unreasonable. The entire reason things are made web exclusive is because they don't think the figure would sell all that well at retail. that's simple supply and demand economics.

As for alternatives? Well, I don't see anyone else making figures of Might Gaine, Fighbird, Big O, or Exkaiser, so I guess Bandai is the way to go. I really do wonder what a Super Robot Chogokin Gipsy Danger would look like compared to NECA, as I'm pretty sure it'd be better than that brittle thing that was made, since Super Robots and Gundams are Bandai's bread and butter.

Getting back on topic before Dr. Kain and GreatMM shitposted this thread; I'm pretty disappointed to see that NECA has no interest in doing Muto figures

Nobody else is doing them, and from their own twitter feed has said they are more interested in doing different versions of Godzilla. Missed opportunity imo.

Why not just make figures of stuff Bandai has not done yet and beat them at their own game? They said they were restricted to what they could make because of license, but I wonder how restrictive that is?

Annnd the first and ONLY SH Monserarts I have, Burning Godzilla, the bottom jaw popped off as soon as I moved it and the center tail ring is loose.

If I get what I pay for, why isn't this thing as durable as my McFarlane Pumpkinhead, which has taken countless falls off of shelves over the decade and a half I've owned it, and hasn't even chipped? And he was only $15. Why isn't the King Ghidorah I've heard with its frail ass wings with a $100-some price tag as durable as my McFarlane Brundle Fly which sold for a mere $15?

And I don't know WTF you're on about the bendy wire. I have a full rubber and bendy wired Trendmasters Godzilla that I used to play with as a kid. And it still bends as good as it did in the 1990's.

Once again, I say to you go take your humpage for the rip-off line that SH Monsterarts is to its own thread.

My Burning Godzilla was in two pieces when I opened the package, separated at the waist... not exactly broken but I had to pop it back together. But after seeing how crappy the gaps at the leg joints were I eventually (sadly) sent it back. No amount of squooshing those joints around to try to hide the gaps was a satisfying solution to me.

I got a Moguera the other day off of amazon because it was pretty cheap but the saw blade thing on the back won't fit on unless I take an Xacto knife to it and shave it down, which I'm not gonna do.

I won't disparage anyone for liking whatever they like, but I hate these things and am not likely to buy any more. There is such a thing as too much articulation and I don't think they look good with all the joints and gaps and plates... if they were all $20 then maybe, but I'm MORE fond of my NECA than I was of that crappy Burning Godzilla (and I LOVE Burning Godzilla).

I understand the argument coming from both sides. While I love the articulation and look of SHMA, I agree that the price tag for those figures are ridiculous. With that said, it hasn't stopped me from buying any of those figures, but merely slowed me down and make me much more picky with what I purchase with them. On the flip side, I love that a company like NECA is coming out and giving us an alternative. I love my 2014 Godzilla, and can't wait for the 12 inch figure, as well as the 1994 and 1984 figures.

Can't we all just agree that it's awesome to see figures like this finally get released?
