I really don't collect anything, that's the thing. Every now and then I'll pick a thing or two up if I think its cool enough. I really liked the Gezora and found it a couple years ago on eBay for something like $65 (and I knew that was absurdly low for that figure), so I got it. I'm sure that will infuriate some of the heavy collectors around here but hey... I liked it!
When I was a kid I bought just about any new Bandai figure I saw. Then in high school, I sold off a bunch of that stuff. Then a couple years later, I regretted selling off said old stuff, so I've kept all my Bandais since then and I've re-bought some of the ones I had a particular sentimentality towards (Angilas and Gorosaurus being the biggest ones). I've got most of the ones I was attached to that I sold back. I think the only two left I would consider buying back are the Bandai Baragon and Biollante figures if I saw them for the right price. Getting some of that old stuff back lit a VERY brief fire in me and I started picking up more stuff (more Bandais, some Y-SMFs), but that phase barely lasted 6 months.
That being said, I haven't bought a single figure in at least two years, not even at conventions. It has to be something REALLY awesome and unique (I almost sprang for that flexible Inspire Dogora at G-Fest a couple years back, but couldn't pull the trigger), or just downright bizarre and weird enough. If you could say I "collect" anything, it'd be the more random/weird oddities (like a Godzilla soap dispenser or an Ultraman toothbrush- stuff like that). But that stuff is so hard to come by, I barely get anything like that either. If I see the right figure, if its something weird enough or if its a truly great figure of something that hasn't gotten a truly great (AND REASONABLY PRICED- CAN'T STRESS THAT ENOUGH) figure (like Varan or Ebirah or something), I might just spring for it. But its not common for me.
So yeah... there's my long winded way of saying I actually
don't collect anything.
