You know, I looked up the actual poster and that MG figure isn't even all that accurate to the painting. Especially the face.

Eh, whatever. I'm not a diehard MonsterArts collector anyway.

What exactly are we looking at here? Statues? Articulated mainline figures? Customs? A future Kou Kyou Kyoku release?

The new G89 is making its way into collectors hands. I just cancelled mine. The whole light up and audio extras does not really wow me enough to warrant the purchase. I would rather have a G89 to go scale with the rest of the line. I saw a YouTube video with a collector showcasing the audio and light up feature. Meh.

Now, how about the Shin Godzilla form A and B? I am hoping those come as a set as they are pretty small in comparison to that of the final form SHMA Shin Godzilla. Pretty excited for those.

Yep, they really are just damned determined to do as little as they can outside of the Heisei era.

See? You said you wanted MechaGodzilla SHOWA... and they gave you a Showa-based Heisei MechaGodzilla. Gotta' be specific.

i laughed out loud when i saw this this morning. They are really stuck in Heisei.

At first it struck me as a little odd that they gave us a figure based on what is more or less concept art, but then i realized that we've been getting that for years with the G2k maquette.

I'm ok with them being "stuck" in Heisei if they were releasing every on-screen character (Godzillasaurus, Rose Biollante, etc). I also understand the need for repaints to get the most out of a mold (hell, the Transformers brand is basically BASED on that). And while the MG concept IS kinda neat, finally making new mold and having it be a CONCEPT figure just seems like they're dicking with us at this point.

Apparently this Mechagodzilla is a Combiner of sorts, just like the original concept art.

I'd be willing to bet that a MOGERA 2.0 under this style might happen if this subline is successful

There. Now can we complain about the massive influx of MechaGodzillas? Because we know 1975 repaint/reissue is then inbound. + Headless version.

Where did you find this survey? I'm curious to see what else is on it. I see some Pretty Cures and a few Kamen Riders I can't make out. I'm hoping to see if they have Metal Heroes.

So now that we're a bit outside the release of both, if you were to go and buy a 2014 G MonsterArts, which is the version you would go with? Original or spitfire?

I'm in the market for one and I'm leaning spitfire. Curious to hear what people think about the two versions now that they're not the "new" thing.

Probably because they're trying to keep it a secret or something.

Image

A terrible secret though.

I just hope this means that they are moving away from Heisei. I mean, if they want to release a Rose Biollante or upscaled Baby Godzilla, that'd be great. But maybe we can get some more Showa monsters? A Gigan or maybe even Anguirus?

The Star Wars Figuarts had no photo signs next to them too, didn't stop people.

I've always loved the concepts to this design. It's such a cool modern take on the classic look, especially those cannon arms!

I don't know if we're still hiding Shin spoilers, but beware...

Somebody on /toy/ did better.

Judging by the way he got escorted out of the event after taking this, Bandai isn't playing around with this particular reveal remaining exclusive to at-event patrons. Does make me wonder if the Kiryu on display is also somehow new/indicates a reissue or just to complete the look with all the other MGs.

I have to admit that my Godzilla collection is rather small compared to some folks here, but let me say that this concept Mechagodzilla figure looks awesome! If I had the money, I would grab this figure in a heart beat! I wish they actually used this design rather than the one we actually got. Instead of Mogera, I would've loved to see this Mechagodzilla split into different vehicles and fight Godzilla. My goodness, why did they not use this design in the movie??? :x
