Its highly unlikely that the new Godzilla movie will be ready by 2012. But your right about the possibility of increased amounts of merchandise and event promotions as we do get closer to the film's release date. In the mean time its time for Bandai to churn out Heisei, Showa and other Toho monsters if so willing depending on the sales.

I swear if these figures are genuinely good everybody here at Clubtokyo forums should buy at least one of these to give Bandai the message that they should continue with this toy line. I'm already signed up for both
Heisei Godzillas as is....heh.

You know they seem to be putting films together really quick now. Like those Twilight movies come out every year (even though it is based on a book). The upcoming X-Men First Class has had really no time (IMO) to come up with a movie and yet FOX Studios just released a first teaser trailer at the recent Super Bowl. Around the Fall of last year, I believe they were still adding cast members and trying to get a script going (from what I recall at IGN). I said this really to just say that perhaps they are going to go a familiar route and much of the story elements may have been put down already on paper. They just need a worthy design to put together as a CGI Godzilla and the opponent monster. I didn't say these couple of examples to say you didn't have a point. It was not to dismiss anything you said, so please don't think I was doing so with this reply.

I hope they do add some quality time to the project like you do and I hope like you that this film will be outstanding. Maybe even draw people back to see the movie 2 or 3 times at least.

I know I am going to get 3 of the 4 recently shown figures. I think I may not get the Meltdown Gojira for a while. :P

I don't do that. I base my thoughts on the trends I see in Japanese merchandise and which monsters, designs and films are the most popular. And the Millennium stuff just isn't it.

...just watch, the first Showa figure we get, will be a Hedorah and the next Godzilla will be a glittery, meltdown Destroyah Godzilla...

We probably will.

Aw....how come? You have no love for Burning Godzilla? :P For me it has a personal place in my heart since it looks cool and attacked my parent's home city, Hong Kong.

Out of the 4, the Burning Godzilla is the figure I want the most. Guy just looks good.

Bandai is doing Heisei figures, my guess, because Bandai's hugely successful Heisei toys in the nineties made them serious bank and they haven't forgotten that. Word is the Milenium series Bandai toys sales were much lower in comparison to, say, the 1991-1996 output.

Excellent, and even though the Heisei look is definitely one of my least favorites, those toys look so detailed that I can't help but want them anyway.

Great pic! To me it looks rather like the Eleking Ultra-Act for size, which in my opinion is the right size for this line.

Is it wrong to totally take back every bad thing I said about Bandai before this line came out?

Opinions can change. It's perfectly fine to change your mind. Frankly, I'm still very surprised that Bandai gives a damn about Godzilla anymore.

I guess we truly have Kaiyodo to thank for that. If not for their inclusion of Kaiju, I don't think Bandai would of made this line.

yes thanks to Kaiyodo and perhaps also the Bandai Ultra-Act line. Which that allowed Bandai to see people would be interested in articulated tokusatsu figures based on giants. I think the Ultra-Act line sold well.

I still think the situation though was unjust. Kaiyodo has the master license for Evangelion merchandise right? If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

And they've shared the NGE license with Bandai for several years. You'd think Bandai would of just given them due process.

Except these few Bandai figures look a lot better than any of the Kaiyodo figures. I agree with the proportion issues for some of the figures, Anguirus and Gigan in particular. The few figures by Bandai shown seem to have better attention to detail.

My only qualm with this series is the release date, this Autumn? That's like...A MILLION YEARS AWAY. :(

Why can't all these great things come just a bit sooner?

Oh these Bandai toys look a zillion times better than the Kaiyodo Revoltechs. I was behind that line all the way until I saw Angilas and Gigan, which both looked ridiculous with the mis-proportioned arms and legs and the big ball joints sticking out everywhere.

If this new series has killed off the Revoltechs (which were never going to include Godzilla, King Ghidora and Mechagodzilla anyway) then I truly don't care. As for the wait...isn't that a good thing? These are going to be more expensive than the Kaiyodos and far more expensive than any 6" soft vinyl Bandai toy. Lots of people complained about the price of the Revoltechs. The wait should give everyone the chance to save up for these, right?

Anyways just curious Legion but which of these new Bandai figures are you planning to get? Just the Godzillas? All of them?

You really think they are going to be that expensive? I was imagining about $40 or so. More you think? We should make one big order from Japan for everyone here to save on shipping. Has anyone ever tried anything like that here?

Hobby Link Japan wants $40 for the Act Gomora, which will probably the same size as the Godzilla is going to be. The Revoltechs are about $27 on the same site and people complained.

Where's the best place to preorder these at? I haven't bought a G toy in awhile and I really like that Burning G so I'm going to pick it up.

I think judging by the photograph posted by BrollySupersJ
Image

it will be closer to Ultra-Act Eleking for size. I think the new Gojiras will be bigger than Gomora. The head and neck on Eleking is going to be taller though. Notice how the hand of the person in the photo is holding the hand of Gojira. If you try that holding Gomora or Gojira in the same way, you don't see as much arm length or depth as you do if you hold the U-A Eleking in the same way. Gomora and Gojira seem to be too small when I tried it with my hand in the same manner as in the photograph. If you have these three figures (speaking to anyone reading) then try that comparison.

Here are my Ultra-Acts Eleking, Gomora and regular Bandai Gojira 90s in size comparison.

Gomora and Eleking are two of the best, if not THE two best, Ultra kaiju!!! Great photo!!

I'd kinda like to see a Gomess figure but...he's not a very athletic kaiju and so having abundant articulation might be a bit weird
