Kaiyodo’s SCI-FI REVOLTECH Figure Series

Postby kpa » Fri Mar 05, 2010 3:02 pm

The SCI-FI REVOLTECH line launches next month with articulated figures of ALIEN and DAIMAJIN. SciFi Japan has updated with high quality, official product photos and specs for those figures plus details on figures 3 and 4, Tsuburaya’s BOOSKA and Toho’s BARAGON, which are scheduled for May.

I was curious how big these would be. They sound a little smaller than I was hoping, but they still look awesome. I'm holding out for mothra or anguirus though.

Likewise. This is probably the best bit of toy news in a very long time.

(Not that this is new news of the line, just saying that the whole Kaiyodo thing is just fantastic stuff of the sort we haven't been accustomed to.)

Dutch wrote the article, with a translation assist from Jim.

Before we ran anything I checked here and other sites like TK. I saw magazine scans and convention pics and a lot of discussion about the figures... but I didn't see the official Kaiyodo product photos (which show close up shots of the figures, the packaging, and all the contents), the catalog solicitation pages, or the complete specs for any of them, either. Thanks to Anime Jungle we had access to all of that so we decided to do an article.

Any of you guys who closely follow the toy threads can let me know if I'm wrong about that. Were all of the images and specs we ran on SFJ already reported here?

Actually sachiel posted a ton of photos of the Baragon figure in the new toys thread. However, none of the were used in SFJ's article, but probably would have been cool to have them in there to show the details of the figure.

Maybe I'm just an idiot, but I could not find any info on these figures at Anime Jungle's website. I used the search feature and tried REVLOTECH, SCI-FI REVOLTECH and DAIMAJIN, but every attempt resulted a "no match found" message.

I just wanna make sure to get a pre-order in for Majin ASAP so they're not all gone.

HELP!

I certainly hadn't seen all the photos you ran (particularly the packaging). And I definately hadn't seen the detailed specs. (I was really curious to see exactly how big they would be)

Thanks for the replies to my question. I certainly don't expect SFJ to be first on every (or even most) bit of news, but I do want to make sure we're not just repeating the exact same info/pics you've already seen elsewhere.

Regarding Anime Jungle they definitely are carrying the figures. Until they add them to their site you can always call and order them at 213-621-1661. I always tell Tetsu he should get those figures posted asap.

They really need to do Golion and Dairugger for Revoltech, especially after I saw pictures of their upcoming Tekkaman Blade. Gamera would be awesome too.

 Kain, I swear you live in some sort of time warp. The Gamera and Gyaos Revoltechs are pictured at the bottom of the Scifi Japan article. Not to mention they've been pictured and discussed quite a bit in the new toys thread.

Kain hilarity aside, nice idea, but there's no such thing.

Bandai has the Soul of Chogokin Spec of both Tekkaman and Pegas, and an Armor Plus figure of Tekkaman alone. There's been no announcement of a Revoltech version.

and Golion and Dairugger work better as Chogokins anyway...

And chances are God Sigma and Daltanious would get Soul of Chougokin releases before Golion and Dairugger get one.

Stop acting like a bunch of Gaberas you guys. There's nothing wrong with Kain expressing what he would like to see in this toy line. I think highly articulated figures for Dairugger and Golion would be very cool.

I'm think I'm more insulted by the comparison to Gabara than anything else! The humor stemmed from the factual problems with that post, not the speculation. How and when we get Golion and Dairugger as poseable action figures (Robot Spirits, Revoltech, GN-U Dou, CMS Corp, SOC) is irrelevant and I have no personal preference.

But it is best forgotten anyway. What's important is that Alien and Daimajin are released today!

Just checking eBay and saw several of the Baragons there. Unfortunately all from Hong Kong sellers.

My only experience with Revoltech has been their Gurren Lagann figure. Frankly I wasn't impressed by its small size, and its left leg fell off constantly.

How odd. Thats never happened to me. My Gurren Lagann figure is pretty sturdy and has never had issues like what you describe. But yes there have been some mass production issues wth quality control at times. I'm really interested in this case, whether Kaiyodo can maintain the quality paint jobs throughout the line.

Or will we get sloppy paint apps on things like Gamera's eyes and Gyaos nails? Who know? *shrugs*

Doesn't matter yet, they're all preorders.

There will be US sellers with these, probably at a markup to some degree, when they're released.

Well over the last little while, new images have surfaced that show off the detail of found on the new Gamera and Gyaos revoltechs. They look superb i might add.... At times these figures look almost as accurate as the real suits. An interesting little tid-bit i found actually. Turns out the sculptor and artist that was hired to do these two figures is also employed by museums across Japan to create animal replicas for museum exhibits. No wonder these two look so good! And the articulation especially for Gyaos's wings is truely surprising. I might have to get these.

That is outstanding! Definitely a must-buy! (Even Gamera's eyes are posable.)

I can only imagine how much articulation Baragon must have!
