Thanks. She's pretty awesome.
She pretends that my G collection is full of families. Her Gigan egg is the baby, the West Kenji Gigan SD Gigan is the big brother, the Marmit Monster Heaven Gigan is the mommy and the X-Plus is the daddy. She also likes to fly her Marmit VP Mothra around while i fly around the "sister" M1 Mothra. My wife thinks its funny that after all these years i'm finally "playing" with some of the toys in my collection

Thanks Klen!!!
Was gonna go for a realistic look like the films but this can of metallic blue was giving me puppy eyes so I went stylized
I plan to do a true '54, 2014 and '73.

Super Sculpey is the best for sculpting because it really bonds to vinyl. Its like the polymers become one with vinyl after baking. Strong too, dropped it on cement floors twice and not a chip on the dorsal fins. Paint chip, yes but the sculpey, no.
However, for molding and casting, I recommend Sculpey Bake n Bend to keep the original piece safe. It bends just enough to remove from the silicone and not break. I shattered many sculpts before Bake n Bend.

how many vinyl figures can you get out of a silicone mold?

Vinyl is its own beast. Silicone is proper for resins like polyurethane. And its advanced over these years too that there is one that mimics vinyl. You can make them squishy or rock solid, depends on the number on the product like 10A is really squishy and 90A is hard tires. Anything and all in between should let you know its strength.
Anyhow to answer your question you can pull out maybe 30 max until the silicone rips apart. As long you make a good strong mold with layers and gauze you can go 50, depends on the sculpt too. Using resin.

Do you know how to make molds for vinyl once you have a decent sculpt. I've seen plenty on making silicone molds but most of the molds i've seen for vinyl look aluminum or tin with little info about how to make the mold itself.

If you ever soldered, making a tin mold is like that. You'll have to melt a tin coil onto a sculpt made of wax. Planning a one or two part mold is pretty much like the silicone method but for a two part tin mold, you would set up metal brackets and sockets so you can screw both parts tight during casting. Never done it but I plan to build a cage around my sculpt first with an inch of room then create the mold seperately and try to fit it in, if that gives you ideas.
I saw it done twice, kinda nervous at first seeing hot liquid tin fall on the wax but nothing happens. Its a special wax, forgot the name. The guy heats up this coil and it drips onto the sculpt. It hardens on contact and he forms the mold. . . THEN...you gotta destroy the original sculpt by melting the wax away in order to use the mold to make vinyl copies. Vinyl comes as pellets and you melt them in a pot to get them in liquid form. Pour into your mold and hook it up in your washing machine go at max spin, this spreads the vinyl around the mold. Then you rip it out while hot and let cool. And you have your creation
