So Mill Creek is already selling Ultra Seven at their booth at a con this weekend.

I’ve watched the first three episodes of Ultra Q so far. I’m quite pleased with the image quality, it’s a competent HD transfer of an old show and it’s a massive improvement over the old bootleg quality chaiyo-licensed dvd set. The modern foley effects are intrusive and unfortunate, but at such a low price point I’m not terribly upset about the shortcomings.

I have to ask though, does anyone else notice a vertical “juddering” of the image in some scenes? I’m at work and can’t reference a specific instance, but I’ve noticed several times where the whole image kinda seems to shake up and down vertically. It kinda looks like excessive gateweave, but it’s in the wrong direction and it almost looks like some kind of digital artifact/issue as opposed to a mechanical problem with the film source. Does anyone else see this?

Finished Ultraman today and it was just as great as I remember it.

Can't wait to dig deeper into this franchise. So far I've only gone through Ultra Q, Ultraman and Ultraman Tiga, as well as the two Tiga, Dyna and Gaia movies.

Best Buy had the steelbooks so I went with those. I was so happy to see them after no luck at Walmart. Still need to pick up Mothra.

I just finished The bluray set of the 66 series the other day. I am satisfied with this release. I kinda regret getting the steel book though. This was my first time watching the series in its entirety in a row and I have to say the series holds up. Its a little silly in the beginning but as the show goes on it picks up some steam and just keeps getting better and better. There are some seriously heavy episodes and now I think I finally see what all the fuss is about this show. Some of the cinematography in the later episodes gets really inventive and experiemental. I also just completed the first disc of Ultra Q and this is an interesting show as well. I plan on giving my 2 cents once I marathon that collection but so far I am digging it.

I definitely enjoy many of the storylines in the later episodes despite most of the more iconic monsters coming from the earlier more formulaic episodes

I thought more of the earlier Ultraman episodes had a *Q*ish sense of mystery surrounding them, then as the series progressed, it got to be more standardized sci-fi, which isn't a bad thing. Also, there was plenty of silliness towards the end, especially in episodes 34 and 35.

Really happy to see from early reviews that Orb and Geed will still have booklets, apparently a standard for the ultra releases! Sure, they're not as expensive as the big booklets for the classic shows, but just having an episode guide is fantastic for when you want to dip back into a series and you're looking for that one particular episode with that one particular monster, you know?

My copies of Orb and Geed have shipped from Amazon this morning.

Anyone else order from Target? I did the 2 for 3....but wondering if they will wait until Ultraseven is released next month and ship all 3, or ship them as they become available?

*edit* looks like Target charged my account, so hopefully I'll be getting the newest releases soon, no shipping confirmation yet however.
*edit* #2- I went to Target's website, and got the shipping confirmation, the sets should arrive Wednesday. I'ts a little frustrating that they don't send out emails to alert customers, but its fine, could be a LOT worse.

Soooooo the second disc of my Ultra Q steelbook cracked from the stress of taking it out. Emailed Mill Creek about a replacement but in the meantime I'm super bummed.

That sucks man. I got the steelbook too and it really is a pain to get the discs out. I think I’ll probably go for the standard releases for any future purchases. I liked the Mothra steelbook a lot but I’m less impressed with the on for Ultra Q. It looks cool but it’s just very impractical. Hope they help you out.

Mill Creek has already replied and they're gonna mail me a replacement! Honestly I hope this is just a fluke cus the standard editions are just so drab by comparison. SIGH.
