Monster Zero x SciFi Japan - Archive Only

I supported all of the releases of DVD's based on Giant Heroes/Robots, the only ones I did not purchase were the ones offered by generationkikaida.com , because they were so expensive, and seeing as how I didn't want to go down the rabbit whole of Kikaida and Kamen Rider, I just stick with the larger hero series. They are a bit less expensive now, but with so many other options I cant even get into (metal heroes, Super Sentai etc...), I'll just stick with Ultraman for now since it was my first intro to Japanese Heroes. S!F has a nice Johnny Sokko DVD, all we need now is Spectreman & Space Giants. I have *versions* of them, but it would be nice to have something official.

Yikes! $650 for the Ultra Q 4k blu ray?! 70,000 yen is $650.94 U.S. Wow. Those prints better be pristine for that kind of money!

Wow, only $28 per episode. Who can pass up a deal like that?

The two modern shows will be released in November and Ultraseven in the beginning of December. Prices appear to be exactly the same as Ultra Q and Ultraman, meaning that this entire line is looking to be really affordable

Mill Creek is knocking it out of the park with that packaging.

There is something about the faint beige appearance of the Steelbook covers that resonates with me and really contributes to the classic feel of those Ultra series. Love it. Not broken up about the new shows not sharing that aesthetic, plus I never got around to wrapping up Geed or even starting Orb, so I’m still going for those two.

I'll stick with the steelbooks for the series that get that treatment. I did wonder how they were going to do the numbering after Leo, with the animations, OVTs, movies, etc.

I think it's ok Orb and Geed are consistent with each other. MC may have distinct package designs for the Showa series (with numbers) Heisei, and Millennium series. Also, because the number of series gets *debatable* after the Showa era, I can understand why they didn't put them on the latter series, which would spark a ton of debate and speculation among us fans who enjoy the minutiae of things like that. I guess we'll know sometime next year if they'll be releasing The Ultraman (the animated series), or skipping it and going straight to 80. I hope not, but I guess we'll see.

Not trying to drum up controversy, but I do take slight issue with the labeling of Ultraseven as *The Complete Series*. I mean, I didn't expect the banned episode #12 to be part of this set, but just be truthful in your advertising. I've purchased other anime sets before where -for a variety of reasons (unobtainable elements, ban, not translated, honest-to-goodness forgetfulness), an episode/episodes were missing. They just left off any wording of *complete series* in their advertising. S!F did the same thing with their Ultraseven set, and it never set well with me (Especially when S!F was so careful to avoid such wording on their Transformers:Victory set which was missing an episode).

It isn't the end of the world. Yeah I have the episode in English & Japanese from other sources...I guess I just expected a little better QC in marketing is all.

As far as I'm concerned, it would look weird if they didn't say The Complete Series since the other stuff does. Plus, even Tsuburaya doesn't count that episode in their "Complete Series" stuff.

Not really . It's still 3 films, not like any of them is missing.

I think everything is looking great, very nice work on Tsuburaya's part in getting the HD materials done. Watching the Ultra Q preview is especially interesting because it remind me of watching 60s era Doctor Who.

^ Nice I did some digging to see if their streaming service was compatible with MoviesAnywhere (inconclusive), but I did see the Ultraman 10 minute promo, wasn't aware of the others

At least there's a somewhat sensible reason for the episode being disappeared.

I'm thinking of that one Mobile Suit Gundam episode that has been banned simply because Tomino doesn't like it or doesn't like the guy who directed it or whatever the reason was.

The saddest part about the episode twelve fiasco is it was a Jissoji episode. If it were one of Akira Tsuburaya's or another of the less compelling directors, I wouldn't be nearly as sad about it but the world being deprived of any Jissoji tokusatsu is sad.
