Just watched the 1st episode. It looks amazing! The colors and textures of the opening scene really stands out. Also the empty disc spaces in Q -7 were just enough for me to slip English language Ultraseven discs in. Hooray for saving shelf space

Also on the spine you can see peeking acrross part of Jack's arm and maybe Twintail ...?

I'm almost half way done with the second disc (need to watch one more episode) and so far really enjoying the show despite the lack of monsters. So far my favorite episode has been "Fly to Nightmare Mountain" which ironically takes place on Friday the 13th and I watched it on Friday the 13th.

I can't believe how impressive the picture quality is on this show. I'm almost wondering why Tsuburaya didn't put a little bit more effort into Ultraman, don't get me wrong it looked a lot better than the DVD I saw several years ago but most episodes didn't seem to get any improvement from DVD.

That being said I just preordered Return of Ultraman. Can't wait for February 25th though I may save it for the end of March when I'm on vacation. I'm probably going to get Geed and Orb with tax money even though I won't watch them until I get that far in the series. I don't want to miss out on them in case they go out of print.

I've seen a few comments here praising the new subtitles. I admit I haven't watched my S!F Q or Seven DVDs in a while, but were they really that bad? I always appreciate a fresh new translation, but as long as previous ones were not purposefully lazy and inaccurate, I don't find fault with them for using different words as long as the message is conveyed accurately.

Got three episodes left on Disc 3. I kinda wish they had more traditional monsters like in Ultraman and some episodes of Ultra Q but so far I'm enjoying the show. I think I'm going to hold off on Return of Ultraman until my vacation which I've decided to move back to the beginning of April. My vacation will be spent watching RoUM, playing Animal Crossing and RE3 remake.

The lack of traditional monsters and a formulaic episode structure is what makes Seven stand out for me among all of the other Ultra shows. You never know how an episode is going to play out whereas in most other Ultra series, after you've seen one episode you know the rest of the drill.

I watched Disc 2 to Seven today. Such a grandiose string of episodes. I also didn't hate the one with the child and the rock as much as I did the first time I watched this show. On the other hand, the episode title for episode 17 is confusing since it's different between the booklet's listing and what was actually on screen, but at least it had the "Go! Go! Go!" on screen this time.

God damn Seven is so good. I finished Disc 3 today and watched the first 5 episodes to Disc 4. The Gyeron episode is still one of the best Toku episodes ever made.

As alreadly mentioned, some of the episodes are so much easier to follow thanks to their new subtitles EXCEPT for one episode. I just don't get who the hell translated "Search for Tomorrow," but it still doesn't make sense. Who the hell talks like, "He went out looking for tomorrow," or "I'm here to help you find tomorrow?" Surely they could have found a much more English translation instead of a literal one, right?

Anyway, so far I think my least favorite battle is still the one against Borg because Seven gets knocked down a cliff. -_- A CLIFF!

I just finished Disc 4 today of Ultraseven. This is like Ultra Q for me some episodes I really like others are meh. My favorite episode so far is "Super Weapon R-1" I like that monster design and I feel bad for that kaiju. Its kind of like a super mutated Godzilla. Plus Ultraseven is really brutal in that episode.

Half way done with disc five now. Going to finish that off tomorrow and probably Disc 6 on Sunday. Going through the Ultra shows I kind of wish I knew about these sooner. Some of the Ultraseven stuff seems vaguely familiar probably because it was aired all the time on TNT aired them all the time.

Sadly non of my local stations aired Ultraman in syndication so I didn't know about that until the mid to late 90s when there was a blurb about it in G-Fan at least I don't think they did. My memory from the late 80s and early 90s is a little fuzzy.

Which dub changed Anne's name to Peggy? Because that dub was atrocious due to that.

I thought it was Donna, but that would be the CINAR Canadian dub aired on TBS/TNT. As far as I can tell the Hawaiian dub would have been faithful to the names based on how unusually accurate the opening theme was for being sung in English
