Hopefully way down the line we’ll get the 1990 Ultra Q feature. I know it bombed but I’ve liked what I’ve seen, and Jissoji’s work is always at least visually fascinating.

I'm actually kinda hoping that - if the various Ultraman sets sell respectably well - that Tsuburaya might contemplate dipping into their other Showa non-UM toku titles for American distribution. I'd love me some complete, nicely done Mirror Man and FireMan... that is, of course, if these have been remastered in HD??

I'm sure everything starting with the Dyna movie is included in that list of 20 films, but doing the math that doesn't quite add up to 20. A majority of the films before then are compilations, so it's hard to tell exactly which one of them will make the cut. I really hope the Ultra Q movie is one of them, because it's been up on YouTube untranslated for years and occasionally I'll watch a couple minutes of it and it certainly looks interesting!

I’m interested in the Ultra Q spinoffs too, Mac. I like the idea that Tsuburaya continued to revisit that series about once a decade in the Heisei era.

Oddly enough, the Ultra Q movie was the first "ultra" movie I saw. IMHO, it's pretty boring but the design of the monster Nagira is pretty awesome, even if it's only in the film for a couple of minutes. I wish it would have been used again in other series/films. Also oddly enough, the TPC 50th anniversary book doesn't reference this film at all

Keith said on another board that they steelbook packaging would have two disc hubs on either side on which three discs would be stacked. Now, we all know Blu-rays have a rugged scratch coating so honestly this is a fine way to store them... I just have this personal preference against stacked discs!

I'm going to go with the standard additions. Honestly, I was already starting to lean towards those anyway as I think the more colorful, cereal box style packaging suits Ultraman a bit more than the classier special edition packaging.

KPA posted on Blu-ray.com's thread for the Ultraman releases yesterday that the booklet will be packaged outside the steelbook cases but inside the clear slipcover/o-ring sleeve with everything shrinkwrapped together.

I think they should put out one or two of the newer series before they fill in all the holes. I think the newer stuff has a better chance of selling than the outdated looking classic shows. Yes,we fans want the classics ,but do casuals want them? Especially when they’d be double dipping in some cases.

Yeah, it sounded like they were going to go both ways. Plus, there are shows in Japan that haven't had BD releases yet, so I bet MC will save those for last.

It would make the most sense (to me, anyway) to get some of the shows that streamed on Crunchyroll on BD sooner rather than later. Didn't Ultraman X get a ton of views through there? (sadly I can't find the source now) I'm sure there would be a demand for that show now. I'd buy it!
