The whole “character arc” worship in YouTube/internet film criticism is what happened when folks tried to start thinking about media on a deeper level, dug about three feet down, hit the extremely shallow “character development” level, then decided “Yup, that’s enough!” While missing all of the deeper and more interesting storytelling techniques and film theory beneath that.
Ghostbusters has next-to-NO character development, because those characters occupy flat character arcs. Are you familiar with that theory/technique Kain?

I just watched the Planet No 4 episode of Seven and oh my god was it so nice to watch that episode without the garbage audio quality the DVD had. Not to mention the gorgeous video quality. I enjoyed that episode a lot before, but even moreso now.

I personally can't wait for February when Return of Ultraman hits. I'm thinking every other month they're going to do a Showa series, so December we got Seven then in February we'll get Return of Ultraman then in April we'll get Ace then June Taro.

Well I just finished the final disc to Ultra Seven and wow Tom, you were right about the Seven suit falling apart in the end there. I can't believe I never noticed that before, but that's also probably due to how crappy the DVD quality was so it wasn't as noticeable until now. I'll make sure I mention that in my Blu-Ray review though.

What a great ride it was to experience Ultra Seven all over again and in some ways, it felt like it was the first time due to the improved subtitles (99% of the time), and naturally, the video and audio quality. I can't wait to see what The Return of Ultraman has to offer.
