You know I wasn't sold on 4K until recently. Back in March my parents decided to upgrade their TV we went to the local Best Buy after a family get together in March and they ended up getting Sony's 2015 top of the line TV. About a week or two after getting it I had to house sit for them so I spent a good week using their new TV and I was convinced on 4K. Now i'm not going to rush out and get a new 4K TV right away that being said though I will be picking up a 4KTV for sure. Everything just looked so much nicer on it even standard cable was upconverted and it looked flawless.
I'm really hoping "3D" sticks around because I have a bunch of 3D BDs that I don't want to become useless. I know a lot of the higher end TVs still support the feature but in two or three years when I'm ready for a new TV I hope I don't have to track down an older model.

I'm content with having 1080p 3D I would really like it if they do sets that have the 4K BD, 3D BD, BD and Digital but I really don't think that'll happen.

Shin Godzilla in Japan is the only 4K Godzilla release we have. Give it time and Toho will probably put the others out on UHD BD.
As for America nothing planned in the foreseeable future. Probably WB will release G14 on UHD BD with in the next year or so.

They mastered the original King Kong vs. Godzilla in 4K, right? But there wasn't a 4K release?

I doubt we'll see 4K stuff from Toho for a bit at least. IIRC the Blu-rays didn't sell very well over in Japan.
I could have sworn I read that Toho was in the process of mastering all Godzilla movies in 4K my mistake.

I wouldn't say no just probably not any time soon. 4K just started taking off in the US so it'll be awhile yet.

the oppo 203 is a freaking wonder machine as it made all the noise on the Godzilla vs. Biollante disk vanish, i keep wondering what kind of magic tricks are in that box.

If Toho does make any 4K transfers of their older Godzilla films, I wouldn't expect much from it considering their ridiculously mediocre home video releases. Judging from some stills of the KKvG 4K transfer, a lot of detail has been lost with the DNR applied to it. Not to mention Toho only has second generation 35mm prints of some of their Godzilla films.

Oppo is shutting down; the UDP-203 will be their last player. I wasn't yet interested in a UHD player, but I guess I'll grab one of these before they're gone.
