The mothra trilogy is decent if you looke at them as childrens films. If you expect them to be on par with the Heisei Godzilla series you're going to be disappointed.

Hopefully Sony decides to tack on the International dub for G2K as a last minute extra I'd be interested in seeing that.

I can live without the international G2K dub. At this point I'd simply like Sony to wisen up and give us proper subtitles for GMK.

The first REBIRTH OF MOTHRA film is actually quite charming. If you view it with an open mind and heart, you just might succumb to its glittery, musical charms.

Yesterday, I received advance copies of the second wave of Sony Godzilla/Mothra Blu-rays. I can’t do screengrabs but did give the discs a quick check. From the little I’ve seen the new Blu-rays are a slight improvement over the batch released in May.

The content of the discs are as described on the back covers we posted on SciFi Japan back in early July (so no international dub for G2000 or other surprises). Extras are limited to trailers, and some films get multiple trailers while others just one. The audio commentary for G2000 is included with the American version, but the only trailer is for the Japanese version.

I thought the picture quality for the films looked good on my 55” flatscreen. REBIRTH OF MOTHRA 1 and 2 have the TriStar opening credits but complete international end credits. ROM 3 is the international version.

The subtitles for GMK are interesting. Without doing a line by line comparison it seems to generally match the previous Sony DVD subs, but with the occasional major change. The subtitle for the scene where King Ghidorah is accidentally struck by a D-03 missile has been changed from the DVD’s “Excellent!” to “F**ck!” on the Blu-ray… and it’s uncensored on the new disc. Never thought I’d see that in a Godzilla film!

LOL....hilarious. I'll def. pick them up. So I'm guessing it's not a complete dubtitle track afterall. Perhaps, some of the other lines are fixed as well.

Doesn't Tachibana yell "Kuso" in that scene? **** is pretty close enough since the only other option would be Damn.

Also, if you don't mind to check, kpa.....did they do away with that 'this lizard has picked on the wrong guy' line and 'there's a huge lizard outside'. Just curious.

The subtitles for the Sony DVD were so inaccurate that I haven't looked at that disc in years and don't recall all of the screwed up translations. "Excellent!" always stood out in my mind so that was the first thing I checked on the new Blu-ray, and when I saw what they changed it to I burst out laughing. I'm amazed Sony and/or Toho let that go through. The Toho subtitles for the theatrical print and the Madman DVD used "Damn it!" for that line.

I did check some of the subs you guys asked about. Some have been fixed, some haven't...

Woman with the Chinese man: "Yes, good luck, everyone! You're gonna die!"

Looks like I'm gonna have to stick to bootlegs for a proper translation of GMK.
