Super Cheap Blu ray/DVD thread

I just realized we don't have a thread for helping people get great deals for expanding their collections. One of the reasons I hesitated purchasing a blu ray player was, I thought it would be too expensive to buy any movies however in the past year I've amassed a 100+ movie collection while being very thrifty/ So if you see any ridiculous deals post them here.

I picked up Robo and plan no getting Rocky too. I already have a previous version of The Man With No Name Trilogy, and I have the Die Hard movies I want on Bluray (I can't remember if I have Live Free or not, but I'm not even going to touch A Good Day).

Half Price Books in Ohio has stock of Godzilla: The Series at $7.99 and Showa Gamera Blu Ray sets for $9.99. These are about the best prices I've seen online or at a retail shop. If you have a Half Price Books in your area and you haven't picked these sets up yet, you might give them a look.

According the forum member ShellOilJunior at Blu-Ray.com, Barnes & Noble will have Criterion Collection Blu-rays on sale at 50% off MSRP beginning 11/11/2014 and ending 12/1/14.

Amazon emailed me about this yesterday, which was a surprisingly low price for the limited edition Blu-Ray set, $29.99. For ten bucks more than the standard BD set on Amazon, you get that big Optimus-riding-Grimlock statue. Good if you're a Transformers movie fan or just want a decent-looking statue from that one scene in all its ridiculous glory. Probably easy for everybody else to skip.

I have a problem. That Barnes and Noble Criterion sale is breaking my bank! Having said that, I nabbed all of the Kurosaw and Ozu I did not already own. That part feels good. The bank part does not!

So I was at Wal-Mart today and spied a great deal for anyone interested in live action comic book adaptations, specifically Captain America. The double feature DVD of the 1979 telemovies Captain America and Captain America II: Death Too Soon as been reduced to a buy it fast price of . That's down from the $7.50 price Wal-Mart had just a couple three weeks ago and a MSRP of $14.99.



The $3.74 is likely effective at all Wal-Marts as the price shows up on Walmart.com. I checked Amazon and they are price matching Wal-Mart's reduced price (Amazon was at $6.88 before) and the DVD set qualifies for Prime shipping currently. Here are the links for anyone interested.

Ooooh, all the Godzilla movies dropped even lower in price! Under $7 for each set definitely sounds like the time to buy. Interesting that the Rebirth of Mothra trilogy didn't fall in price nearly as far as these, when it ought to have been an even poorer seller than the Godzilla movies.

It'll probably be a while before the Rebirth of Mothra trilogy hits $7; mostly because it's a three movie set. It did drop to $9 something/$10 during December, I bet we'll see the trilogy pack hit $10 again before too long.
