Jumborg Ace Eng subs DVD

Postby O.Supreme » Sat Jun 14, 2014 11:08 am

Greetings All,

From VBG who brought us Return of Ultraman -now comes... Jumborg Ace! --It is odd that VBG dosen't even have it on their site yet, but there are several copies on eBay

Ultraman Ace and Taro are on VBG's acquisition list as well, from previous e-mails, although the releases seem to be about 4-6 months spread out on average
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

Oooh, might have to get this. Jumborg Ace, Fireman, and Ultraman Taro are the most extravagant Tsuburaya production series. The quality of these shows (production values wise) is surprisingly better than film productions at the time. After seeing these, you'll understand why Godzilla vs Megalon has such a hard time with theater attendance.

That'd be cool. I've seen a few episodes. Honda does some weird, interesting stuff early on (It apparently falls of the wagon around episode 26). It's kind of bleak, which may be a reflection of Honda's own state as he was now a TELEVISION DIRECTOR at this point in his career. Thankfully he rebounded.

EDIT: Out of curiousity, I put together a list of episodes from various television shows in which Honda worked on. Apparently, he was only on the first two episodes of Mirrorman, which is disappointing.

(1971) Return of Ultraman: 1,2,7,9, and 51
(1971) Mirror Man: 1, 2
(1972) Thunder Mask: 1,2,4,5,14,15
(1973) Zonefighter: 3,4,12,13,18,19,23,24

Surprised how prolific he was in Zonefighter, and that he only directed one episode featuring Godzilla (episode 4). The 18/19 two-parter is especially bizarre. It features a game of kaiju horseshoe.
The new Gamera will be worse than Super Monster.

Again, thanks for the info. I'll buy it for sure, even though I don't know when.

I've had them all for a while. I admittedly haven't watched all discs from them all, but the only one I had some issues with was Ultraman Ace
