Any ideas what it may be?
Maybe a 4K Blu-ray? Or some sort of rerelease to coincide with Pacific Rim Uprising?

Interesting -- on the surface it seems like WB taking advantage of Universal's promotion for Pacific Rim Uprising. Hopefully if a 4K release is on the way for Godzilla, WB fixes that very dark transfer that they ended up using on the blu-ray. Right now the movie is difficult to watch sometimes, I haven't gone back to re-watch it much over that last few years.

Sony just put Jumanji (1995) on 4K to capitalize on their release of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Warner Bros. did the same with Blade Runner to coincide with the release of Blade Runner 2049,

WB probably wants to capitalize on Pacific Rim: Uprising with a new 4K release of their own, and since they already put Pacific Rim on 4K in 2016, Godzilla is their next option.

For what it's worth, I just upgraded to a new projector, an Optoma HD142X, with a MUCH better contrast ratio and a new 100" screen from Elite and cannot believe how much better this disc looks, absolutely gorgeous! Anyone looking to upgrade their system should look into this, imo. And with a final price, on Amazon, of just over $600 for both items, I think it's quite the deal. Can't wait to watch Shin now...
