Sony Godzilla Blu Rays CONFIRMED!!

I don't think Toho insisted on the subtitles/dubtitles. I think they provided subtitle scripts when they supplied prints of the movies and Sony opted to just use what Toho gave them instead of commissioning original translations.

For what it's worth, Madman's Australian DVD of Godzilla: Tokyo SOS features the same dub-matching subtitles as Sony's DVD. However, while Sony's Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II DVD had dubtitles, the subtitles on Madman's DVD of the same movie definitely did not correspond to the dub.

Oh, I just figured that Toho has subtitles for their international versions ready to go, that way companies don't have to do their own subtitles (similar to the international dubs). I'd be very surprised if Toho either forced, or recommended, companies to use their own subtitles. I figured that companies like Classic Media and Media Blasters preffered to make their own translations, whereas Sony is happy with the ones Toho provides.

It just has a bunch of boring foreigners in it.

Hopefully, Mike S is supervising what's to be put on the discs. I'd really like accurate subs with Japanese language tracks more than anything and of course, the double features released on BLURAY format. If I get that much, I'll be more than happy to give them my money.

Looks like I'll upgrade my DVDs to these and give my DVDs to my niece and nephews. They love Godzilla thanks to their favorite uncle.

I'll probably be getting all of them except for the Tokyo SOS/GFW one. My GvsKG is a bootleg, my Vs Mothra is a Region 2 DVD, my Space Godzilla is a bootleg, and my Destroyah is a bootleg VHS that I got in 1996. So needless to say, my Heisei collection needs quite the upgrading.

my spacegodzilla is a homemade rip of the VHS onto a DVD-R.

Its atrocious visual and audio qualities match the film's own overall quality.

Most of them have switched to Blu-ray listings. I've pre-ordered, and listed all the corresponding DVD's for sale. ^_~

There's literally no argument to keep those, right?

And preordered. Unless they are dubbed only (which I doubt they will be), I'll be getting all four. $55 is not a bad price for 8 movies. That is what I paid for one Toho BD back in 2009. Nevertheless, wow, May 6th is a big Godzilla day.
