Has it ever been confirmed that the Japanese cut of KKvsG was ever distributed outside of Japan?

It is funny that a lot have swooned over Linda Miller, which is good and fine. But what about Mie Hama?

Image

Julie Bennett dubbed her in KKE and I think she may have also done the same thing for Mie in "What's Up Tiger Lily?"

Looks like we have artwork. Maybe they're preliminary at the moment, but I think they look great!

It is! I always like them, and I think they look good transferred to Blu-ray.

I always liked 'em, too. I mean, I usually dislike heavy photoshopery, but they capture the feel of those crazy, airbrushed Toho publicity stills.

Agreed. Obviously a photoshop cut n paste, but a hundred times better than the Sony Godzilla covers.

Couldn't have said it better.

Cool.

I always thought it was a minor miracle we got these on DVD. Who'd ever think they'd come out on blu-ray...?!!

I remember when these first came out on DVD...getting to finally see "King Kong vs, Godzilla" in widescreen was almost as much of a revelation as getting to see the Japanese cut. After all those years of pan and scan, it was nice to see where those mysterious off screen voices were coming from! :D

I have never seen the Japanese version of “KKE”, but I’ve heard Eisei Amamoto speak, and his voice was higher pitched. How affective it was for this movie, I really don’t know. Paul Frees’ voice on the other hand, was much lower, or at least he could make it that way, and as a result, Dr. Who sounded quite menacing.

If I had ever wanted to see the Japanese version, it is only because of comparing and contrasting between Amamoto and Frees (and both combined, did a great job as Dr. Who).

And it just occurred to me that I’ve met three actors from this film – Akira Takarada, Susumu Kurobe and Haruo Nakajima (unfortunately no Linda Miller! :( ).

So I've decided to preorder these as I'm going to at least give the BD quality a try. Plus, as I have said before, I haven't see KKE since 97, so it might be worth the watch. I just hope I don't regret it as I'm watching them.

How can anyone live that long without re-watching King Kong Escapes?
It's like living without joy.

Because I've been waiting and waiting for the Jp version to come out.

Stop waiting and just check out the American version.

I've already said I've preordered them. However, I'd rather just have the Jp version.

Was Rhodes Reason amicable? I've heard that he called Ishiro Honda a "hack".

He did call him a hack in Stuart Galbraith's book. Let's just say Monsters are Attacking Tokyo does not paint him in the best light. He comes off extremely arrogant and dismissive of his time doing KKE

it's his sense of humor which doesn't come across in print. At whatever G-Fest Rhodes was at he expressed great admiration for Honda. The "hack" thing was a joke.
