So what is the issue with the second season of the old Hanna-Barbera cartoon? Why does it seem destined never to be released on DVD?

Classic Media had no interest, not sure if its because the first season DVD's weren't profitable or what... I'm just glad I was able to tape them off TNT & Cartoon Network when they aired in the mid/late 90's, and since have converted them to digital format.

I'd love to see them officially released on DVD as well, but not sure if rights reverted to Warner Bros.(that has all of HB's toon library) or Toho...?

Classic Media were a bunch of greedy corporate A-holes who killed the HB release, milking the frigging thing by breaking the 1st season up into 3 separate discs instead of a 3-disc boxset. Though I'd love to have gotten s2, frankly it serves them right.

When G'19 bows they (whoever owns HB's G) need to release the COMPLETE series on Blu in one compact set.

Toho owns the HB series. The rights reverted to them in the early '00s, I think?

I remember reading years ago that Toho licenses out the rights to the two seasons of Hanna-Barbera's Godzilla separately. Classic Media had only licensed the first season and they released all 13 of those episodes between their three single-disc volumes.
