Interesting... it's odd, because Mill Creek only have the rights to the Kaneko trilogy, right? Could they have worked out some deal with Shout Factory to sublicense the Showa movies similar to what Criterion did with Classic Media on Godzilla? Or perhaps they're trying to pull off something illegal.

Saw the trilogy Blu-Ray at Target today. $10 and in a single case instead of a box with two cases.

Yeah. Not to be a dick either but...it's freaking GAMERA too...like, come on, there are secondary Toho monsters that have more name pull than Gamera.

I'm not saying I like that or anything, but I feel it's a pretty accurate statement. Oh and aren't Mill Creek the only ones giving us Godzilla blu-rays?? Seriously, talk about a huge turnaround for this company. From a name which might cause you to shudder if they had their hands on a movie you like to one you kinda hope gets it, because at least they'll put something out and (at least lately) it will have a solid presentation for the film itself.

and no dubs....oh well.

I wasn't even finished getting Shout's releases - but I don't care! YAY MILL CREEK!

I am officially excited, I was so close to buying the DVD set of these. I am going to be completing my Gamera blu ray set.

I just realized, also, that these will be coming out the same day as the complete series DVD set of Godzilla: The Series.

No dubs and four movies crammed on one disc no thanks. I could see two movies per disc but four is pushing it especially for Blu-ray.

I'll be skipping these these since The original DVD releases had great transfers that I was happy with and these don't have any of the dubs or the commentaries for the first 2 films.

This is perfect if you skipped the Shout Factory releases. Although, im not planning to double dip just for Bluray. Maybe there will be much improved subtitles or picture quality that will change my toon.

As a Gamera fanboy myself, I say this is a very nice gesture by this company to do these releases, but as others have rightly stated, we are actually getting less here than was provided by Shout.

We wants the dubs. They're readily available. Shout included some of them, and the ones they missed can be gotten as well. Would help sales a bit, I would think. Easier for kids to enjoy too, the target audience for these films. Kaiju fans are obviously gonna wanna show these to their moppets. And four films per disc? Bad idea. Mill Creek really hasn't turned around that much, folks. I'm still waiting for a proper release of GAMERA, GUARDIAN OF THE UNIVERSE. Y'know, one that has decent encoding with no artifacting, correct audio levels with decent LFE (non-existent in the English dub) and decent dialogue level (way too muffled in the Japanese track), and a slates subtitle track with translated onscreen text regarding signs, newspapers, locations, etc.

Once again, Mill Creek appears to be dropping the ball. I wish Criterion would be interested in putting these out. Or Arrow overseas.
