And Mill Creek has made a point about quality subs after the G3 replacement program.

If only they would pick up the Heisei Godzilla/Mothra films from Sony and give them the blu-ray treatment then I would be a customer for life.

I'll be all over these, as long as they're region-free like Mill Creek's Heisei Gamera and Daimajin sets. I'm fine with the lack of dubs.

For anyone planning on getting these BRD sets, and want to add the AIP english dubs to your collection there are many different grey markt copies. But the easiest & least expensive way to get them all would be in this set:

Of course, not much can be said for quality, but they are all there, & would work well as a compliment to the Mill Creek sets. The best quality versions would still be the S!F DVD's, and the only proper aspect ratio release of Gammera: The Invincible was Neptune Media's VHS. The English dubs of Gamera & Gamera vs Barugon distributed by Sandy Frank are also not available on DVD (outside of the MST3K versions by S!F), though why someone would want those gawd awful things is beyond me. The long OOP VHS are dirt cheap, or I'm sure you can find video files of them online if you want to be a completist.

I will be picking these up and probably ditching the first two, dubless Shout! Factory releases. I'll keep the double feature DVDs, I suppose, for the dubs, although the video quality on those will probably make me not very inclined to ever watch them again.

EDIT: Argh, I might just hold on to those first two for the audio commentaries.

Eh, the latest DVDs are good quality compared to what we got before, and I like dubs when I can have them... so I doubt I'll go in on these, as tempting as it is. Still great they are getting a Blu-ray release, though.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know if Amazon are shipping the corrected version of the Trilogy set (the single case version)?

Yep, only for the US and Canada. I remember when they first released the corrected version of G3, the only way to be guaranteed to get it was to buy it directly from Mill Creek. The problem is they only ship to the US, so I had to get an American friend to help me out there. More trouble than I'd usually like to go through when buying a movie.

Yeah these are high quality-budget releases. Be happy with what we're getting. Honestly, I would have been fine with Shout's releases until the end of time....but I'll be very happy to own both.

I can see your point as I'm only getting King Kong vs Godzilla, King Kong Escapes, and Godzilla vs the Sea Monster of the Toho related blu rays.


But I'm too big of a Gamera fan to pass this up. We will literally be able to own every Gamera film on blu ray and that's a very exciting thing. These releases don't exactly break the bank, and Mill Creek has done excellent releases for our fandom in the past....I'm all too happy to support these releases (and they will have "better subtitles" so there's that too).
