Why wouldn't they be paying that much? If you're collecting the films, and a certain one is OOP and over $100 for say, a year, eventually you might break down and pay it. Personally, I set thresholds for myself and buy whenever some poor seller unknowingly or mistakenly sets a price dramatically lower. The Gunbuster DVD set was $60 - $160 for a long period of time, but I managed to secure one from a UK seller for $16.99 last month. Conversely, I've successfully sold things like DVDs, the Godzilla Compendium and Steve Ryfle's book for well over $100. It's supply and demand, and cult movie lovers have large disposable incomes (or they think they do, and all of their children are shoeless).
