Well, I just finished disc 5, and I am, as the kids say, totally-all-bummed-out-and-stuff that I only have 8 episodes left to go (plus episode 12, when I obtain it from... other sources). My one consolation is that I know I'm about to be left wanting more, and that's so much better than if it were to overstay its welcome.

I just now finished the last episode of Ultraseven. I actually found myself a little choked up throughout the last ten minutes or so. I'll be starting on some of the more recent series soon; I know everybody praises the Hell out of Nexus, but it's gonna have a tough job matching what I'm feeling right now.

I feel like I can barely watch this set without getting a headache. I can deal with compressed video, but what I can't deal with is mucking with the framerate. I'm not sure what they did, but the motion of every character and everything seems shaky, blurry and ghosty. It drives me nuts. The recent bootleg release online looked better than this.
Edit: Just pausing to look at the individual frames, I can see that some are crystal clear and others are several images merged into a ghosty mess. It kind of reminds me of watching a PAL release.

I got two episodes in and I gave up. It was actually painful to watch this on my 55" TV. Yet my bootleg DVDs of the '70s shows look fine. Shame.
