New DVD/Blu-ray Purchases

Postby StevenScrivello » Mon May 23, 2011 10:00 pm

Since there is a thread of this sort in the Toys section, I thought it would be cool to have a similar one here (apologies if there already is, I had a quick look and couldn't find one).

Last week I was lucky enough to pick up both ULTRAMAN TIGA & ULTRAMAN DYNA and ULTRAMAN GAIA: THE BATTLE IN HYPERSPACE on eBay for a collective total of around £30 (around $50), which I was very happy with.

Very few purchases lately, been trying to hold back a lot of my money for G-FEST. But recently I got the Chobits complete collection on Blu-ray.

Oops, accidental double-post.

But I will take this time to note that it is now the only Bat-film I own.

You're a sick f*ck.

Joel Shumacher's commentary is amusing though. Its pretty much a 2 hour apology.

No need to apologize for making the most entertaining Batman film of all time! 8D

I not only fully endorse this purchase but regret that I only own the standard one-disc version. I, sir, am envious.

This was just on TCM recently wasn't it? That title sounds REALLY familar.

Tonight I ordered

Get Him to the Greek and Just Go With It both on Blu-Ray.

I got the former because it's an awesome movie and was on sale for $14.99 and got the latter because I'm a huge Adam Sandler fan. They'll be in Friday.

Correct, it was on TCM recently (I missed the airing though ;.;).

The VHS I have runs 96 Minutes, while this one runs at 100 Minutes. Hee hee, wonder what was left in.

Anyway this is an ultraviolent (for its time. Still pretty vicious. That scene with the guy getting a torch in his face still shocks me) mercenaries film from 1968. It's one of Quentin Tarantino's favorite movies ever. He lifted some of the soundtrack from the film to be used in Inglorious Basterds.

Maybe that's why it sounds familiar? Also, it's a book by Wilbur Smith. I work at a Library and so I saw it and thought it was a good read. I was surprised that it had a movie o_o. Both are very good, and both have their own unique differences. ex-Nazi mercenary officer in the movie vs downright dirty pig of a person in the book.

No it was more the title that sounded familar not really into this type of movie but I'll defiently be checking it out via Netflix if they have it or keeping my eyes peeled on TCM to see if they re-run it.
