No matter the country, awards are exactly like box office. They're a mark of success, not quality.

Picked up blus for Train to Busan and Baby Driver. Also on impulse bought Sayanora Jupiter on DVD despite never hearing anything good about it.

Picked up the British 4K Ultra HD Special Edition of Blade Runner from Amazon.co.uk. This is, for now, the definitive edition of Blade Runner. It includes all the major versions of the movie (1982 U.S. theatrical, 1982 international theatrical, 1992 Director's Cut, workprint, and 2007 Final Cut). The North American 4K release, which only features the Final Cut in 4K, is botched in its extras. The current batch of copies lacks the Blu-ray disc that's supposed to include three of the previous cuts, mistakenly replacing it with a special features DVD from a previous edition. Aside from that, the North American 4K release never intended to include the workprint version. This British special edition includes all five cuts on Blu-ray plus the Final Cut in 4K Ultra HD all in one package. On top of that, the release is also region free, meaning it can be played on any player globally.

Make no mistake, this show has terrible animation, but it is the Superfriends of the current era. It has some surprisingly fun stories in its 11 minute limited run per episode. Normally I would be more annoyed at something like this, but we are getting the best of both worlds. We get this show, and next year we get the serious/quality in story & animation that will be Young Justice S3 on Netflix next year. So I am ok with it. Now if TT GO would go away and THIS SHOW just run on forever Id be happy...but never underestimate the stupidity of CN...

This weekend I will find out what all of the hype surrounding Stranger Things is.
Also, not too happy with a BLU-RAY being shipped in a DVD sized case. WTF is this? I can't fit this on my Disney BD shelf as the shelf has been fitted for BD cases. Now I either have to buy the movie again or find a custom cover that is 100% identical to the Disney cover.

Ooh nice, Samurai Jack The Complete Series. I want to get the box set but I think I'll have to wait until Christmas.
I made a trip out to the only Big Lots that's somewhat near me and picked up a copy of Sony's
Mastered in 4K Godzilla .
It's not a UHD/4K blu, but a normal blu-ray that uses a new 4K master (versus the earlier release). I don't have Sony's earlier Godzilla blu, the Mi4K release drops all the extras from the earlier blu ray in favor of maxing out the potential picture quality (EG the blu ray version of Superbit DVDs). It does look good, although with 4K televisions and capable players more common I would not be surprised to see Sony release a true UHD/4K of the movie anytime now.

Not really a purchase per say but I ordered Spider-Man Homecoming 4K from Best Buy because they had a contest going for it and I ended up getting a free code instead so I cancelled my order. Yesterday though they ended up shipping me my order so I called them about it to see what the deal was and the agent on the other end was confused as I was so he said I could either just keep it or take it back to my local store. So yeah I got Spider-Man Homecoming for free.

The Great Yokai War isn't the most complete variation of DVD release, but it was a relatively cheap Otakon pickup that I finally got around to watching. Interesting and visually excellent movie.
I've started on a bit of a nostalgia kick and decided to pick up the first volume of Darkwing Duck on DVD, probably getting the second one later this month or early next. It's very annoying that there doesn't seem to be a third volume release on the horizon, given hold old the original DVD releases of the first two volumes were.

All three are coming this week, courtesy generous birthday cards from family. Don’t know where the new stock of the Tokyo Shock discs came from but they’ve driven down the secondary market prices considerably. I actually got all three movies off ebay for dramatically lower prices than amazon. Wonder Woman and Space Amoeba are both brand new factory sealed. Matango is used (but “like new” with all inserts according to the auction), but it was only $12 shipped!
So excited to have Yog Monster From Space* in my collection. I’ve only seen it once but I really liked it. Never seen Matango so I’m very excited to add it to my Halloween viewing! Hope it lives up to the hype!
And yay! Wonder Woman! Saw it twice in the theater and haven’t seen it since. It was my favorite summer movie this year, in a year FULL of awesome movies!
*i never liked that they did away with the original U.S. title for the dvd release.

You should love Space Amoeba. It was a fantastic watch and a rarity for me, a repeat watch within the first week I owned it. Nice call on eBaying missing Media Blasters movies, I should do exactly that for the ones I don’t have.

Yeah, like I said, I’ve seen Space Amoeba once, years ago, and loved it. Can’t wait to watch it again finally. Matango will be brand new territory for me.

I meant to say Matango there, not Space Amoeba! But both movies are so fantastic.

Criterion sale!
Hmmm... I'm seeing somethin' subliminal in that there Pan's Labyrinth cover!
I wanted to get the Criterion Blu of Cronos, but neither stores near me are stocking it. Cronos was actually the last DVD I bought before I got a Blu-Ray player, so I've always wanted to correct that, and I'm probably gonna do a GDT rewatch before The Shape of Water.
