Finally completed Animaniacs for my daughter . Also picked up the latest Voltron unexpectedly at Walmart. Dreamworks is smart to get more of these on home media, especially since Netflix will be losing tons of subscribers once Disney+ arrives in November. Also got Xabungle at a great price. This is my first SD on Blu Ray purchase. I love how so much can fit on one disk without any really noticeable drop in quality. I'm not going to double to to go back and upgrade, but any chance I can get to snag one of these with new releases, I will.

Imagine if they did SD on 4K, get a whole 50 episode series on one disc

I'm waiting until they do a Complete Collection of Voltron on BD before I bother.

Anyway, the series we never thought we would get in the US has finally come out, well, half of it anyway.

Last week I got Captain Marvel on 4K as well as The Shallows on 4K. While CM isn't the greatest marvel movie I am a completionist so yeah.

Apparently Iron Man trilogy is getting 4K releases when Endgame hits home video so that's awesome, and there's rumors that the rest of the MCU will be out on 4K by the years end. After the IM trilogy we just need Thor, Thor 2, Guardians 1, Ant-Man and Doctor Strange.

I've been holding off on MCU until they go on sale or get them used cheap. $22 for just a BRD is ridiculous. Also I noticed at Walmart they had the caption "limit of 2 per customer" lol...as if any of these have been in short supply.

That's because Disney tends to save all of their sales for their own Disney Movie Club members. We've gotten a ton of Disney movies on the cheap side from being club members.

Anyway, I'm holding off for a box set before I go and rebuy the older movies on 4K.

Yeah I got Infinity War day one, (probably will get Endgame as well) but Black Panther & Thor Ragnarok I was able to snag for $7 brand new on Black Friday last year.

I used to justify that getting a combo with at least 3 formats (DVD,BRD, and digital) was worth $20, but now when the price goes up, and the formats are fewer, just to push 4K, I'm definitely OK with getting them on sale, or used. I did eventually jump on the Blu Ray bandwagon, but not until the whole HDDVD/BRD format war was over, and not until I got an HD TV (which was 2011). I'll do the same with 4K. I don't anticipate needing a new TV any time soon, so I wont need a 4K player for a while yet.

It is odd, when I look back at all the MCU releases I have, they are inconsistent, but I just have the ones I want. (which is basically all of them except Dr. Strange and Captain Marvel)

IM & IH I don't *think* had Blu ray releases initially, but I think they followed soon after. I have IM2 on DVD which came with a digital copy that you could download onto your computer. CA1 was my first MCU Blu Ray. CA1, Thor, and Avengers all came in combos, and had digital copies you could download onto your computer. IM3 came with my first UV copy, but I didn't use them at the time, so it expired.

Thor 2 was the first home media release under Marvel/Disney proper (no longer under Paramount) , so they started ditching the DVD combos and just doing BRD/Digital, or BRD/3D/Digital. This is how I got Thor 2, Winter Soldier, GotG, A2, and Ant-Man...I wonder what I'm ever going to do with those 3D Blu rays .

The rest have just been BRD/Digital when I can find them on sale or used.

I'm the opposite as Black Panther was a Day 1 buy last year while Captain Marvel is a "Put it on Xmas list." CM wasn't terrible, but it will join the two Iron Man sequels and Dark World as the movies I only watch when I'm rewatching the entire MCU in order. Meanwhile, I'll continue to watch the Cap trilogy non-stop.

As for digital, I sell off my digital copies. I have no use for them.

I still 100% support physical media as well, but I figure if they are going to throw in a digital copy as part of the purchase, why not. Even Walmart will occasionally provide free digital copies with their receipts. I've been able to build a nice little library on Vudu for myself. Of course Its no replacement, and I'll still have my disks when the internet goes down, or these services suddenly *lose rights to items you've purchased*. Its more about convenience than anything else, but yeah, I still prefer my physical media.

If VUDU where to loose the license and you bought and paid for a movie you'd still have access too it. As for the Ultraviolet thing your UV library was able to be moved over to Vudu. So I'm not 100% sure where that myth came from that you'll lose your purchases if the company goes under.

I'm not advocating all digital by any means I still buy all my movies on physical and will until I absolutely have to switch to an all digital format, which I don't see any time soon.

There has been precedent in the past, with both music and movies having digital content loss when rights expire, or companies cease to exist. I myself just got an email from UV this morning. I have 100+ UV films. Yes I have transferred them all to *Movies Anywhere & Vudu. But they also say "we are working with providers to insure continued access after UV ends on July 31", so that tells me there's no guarantee. I'll let you all know if on August 1 most of my digital library is gone. Thank goodness either way I have the actual discs.

Just Curious, because several different digital content sites are now being consolidated, going out etc... I find that once I redeem a code it gives me multiple options (usually Apple, Amazon, Vudu etc...), a while back, I was able to use Movies Anywhere to consolidate my entire digital library in one space since some sites do not support some titles, and some like Disney are proprietary.

My question though is...If I purchase something digitally say.... on Amazon, can I still import it to another site such as Vudu? I'm just curious because I see that Amazon has some Godzilla films digitally that Vudu never carried, but I don't want my digital content spread all over. It was a pain to get them all together, but I'm glad I was able to.

Only stuff purchased from Movies Anywhere I think will transfer over to other providers. I'm not 100% sure how digital works because I rarely use it as I said I just have it for the heck of it since most stuff I buy comes with a digital copy. I still prefer physical media as it still has better video and audio to digital.

Got a really good deal on both of these. It's a series I saw a couple random episodes of nearly 20 years ago and always wanted to complete. Having these full series really economically priced makes it nice, as opposed to having something like 10 VHS, or even 10 DVD on a shelf. There is another OVA set coming out in a few weeks. Even still, that will not be all the Votoms content. I hope I can seek anything else out online.

I hadn't actually seen Sword of the Stranger yet, but the sale price was FOUR BUCKS, so I knew I couldn't go wrong (and I didn't - watched it last night and it was quite good).

Like many I got the Mothra steelbook today. Only watched the American print and it does look fantastic though some stuff is a lot darker than I remember. Like I said in its topic I haven't watched the movie since the Icons of Toho DVD set came out which was a long time ago. The colors looked more vibrant than they did on DVD.
