I don't mind the special editions but I wouldn't mind having the original versions on BD either.

Ugh.

They announced the specs and its still true that there aren't the theatrical versions. Why doesn't he do what his buddy Coppola does and provide us with BOTH versions and let the audience make up their minds?

Man, these movies have had the most kick ass covers between VHS and DVD, and now that they are coming out to Blu-Ray, we have some of the worst cover art ever. What the "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" is that supposed to be? Not to mention the cover art for the individual trilogies looks awesome. For a big set like that that includes every movie, we deserve superior artwork!!!!

I'm sure if any of you have paid attention to my occasional rants about Star Wars over the years, you can guess my opinion on these.

It just kills me. The artist didn't even get Luke's pants tucked into his leg-wraps/boots. & I totally disagree with Kain, the individual covers suck just as bad. Our MAIN HEROES of the original trilogy are barely discernable.... I don't care what Georgie boy says, the OT is CLEARLY the story of Luke, not Vader (who is merely an evil henchman stereotype in the first film...). Thank goodness for some of the talented people at originaltrilogy.com and their efforts that keep me from losing all hope...

Lucasfilm, you suck. You really, really suck.

Lucas is a pompous, pretentious blowhard who can't admit when he's wrong, like he has been about EVERYTHING since Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade...

I DARE somebody to defend his "special edition" of Return of the Jedi. It's an abomination; even moreso than the other ones.

It's not too much to ask that people be allowed to see the movies the way he originally presented it. If he REALLY had wanted an overly long, moronic musical number in RotJ, the popularity and success of the previous two films would have allowed him to do as much in the first place.

Where is that Speilberg quote from? I assume it's recent? On another forum there was a discussion about how when Raiders of the Lost Ark was first broadcast in HD, the shot of the nazi jeep flying off the cliff edge had been significantly altered via CGI. But within recent months, NEW HD masters of the classic indy films have been shown that are much nicer masters over all, but also have the original cliff shot restroed & no CGI anywhere to be seen. The rumor was that Speilberg himself had put the kabosh on the CGI cliff & also was not happy with the previos HD masters & had these new (notably better) masters made. Which is also supposedly why the original Indy films didn't come out on Bluray when Crystal Skull did....
