Monster Zero x SciFi Japan - Archive Only

I still have my Tiga DVDs, got them upon release, so I didn't have to pay a ton, but it will be nice to get updates. Also, since TPC was quite public about not liking the dub of Tiga ( I don't even think they finished ithonesty) I wonder if the 2 films released by Image ENT way back when will include their English dub, or any of the films Winkler Prod did more recently? While I have no attachment to those, it would still be a nice bonus.

I stupidly traded in both my Tiga series DVDs and the two movies that Image put out. I did it in my late teens / early twenties and I regretted it almost instantly! I seriously considering spending some money to replace them all via used copies online, sold for no doubt absorbent prices, only a few days before the Mill Creek announcement. Needless to say, there's no need now!

I hope they get a release. More people need to see Tiga, Gaia and Max -- I kind of hate everything I have seen of Ultraman Cosmos, but would be willing to give it a proper chance if it got a domestic release

^ Since Tiga/Dyna/Gaia have already been released on Blu-ray in Japan I assume we have less of a wait for them in comparison to other series still awaiting release over there.

Although technically Most people consider *Spring* March-May, we are getting some of those releases in January, it's likely we could get RB & Ace both in March

Summer is considered my most to be June-August. So even if we got one release per month after *Return* in Feb, that means we could have Ultraman X by August. A total of 13 series (of 31 or so) in less than a year. I hope they keep this up, even doing so, it would take probably close to 3 years to get every Ultra Series they have license to out and I'm ok with that. It's just going to be a LOT of Ultraman for the next 3 years. Hopefully sales are good enough to keep the releases coming


Alao I apologize if this is getting annoying but I'm still not exactly sure what Ultraman Zero Series + Movie is supposed to be. Is it

It's just that Zero has been attached to so many TV projects, and none of them a series *proper* as far as I can tell. Also he's been attached to MANY films, so I have no idea what one film that would be...

^ In the Kaijucast interview with Keith Aiken he said they have something vaguely like a five year plan to release all the things they have licensed. I wonder if this is calculating in having to wait for Tsuburaya to do their domestic blu-ray releases first for the several as yet unreleased series?

I hope R/B and Ace don't come out until at least April. Speaking of R/B, do you think the movie will be included due to the movie being released this year?

I've liked everything I've seen of Zero so far. He's a cocky SOB, but that's part of his youthful/rebellious appeal. I'll probably pass on Leo and especially Taro. The '79 Anime' show ABOSLUTELY, and 80's show FER SHUR. I haven't seen Orb or X or Ginga. For those who have... are these worth picking up??

I also wonder if they plan to release the show that has the kid controlling Gamora, sort of making the big bad the defacto hero of that series? Haven't seen anything but clips but it looks interesting.

I plan on picking everything up but Ginga is AWFUL. I mean if you're gonna skip something as fun as Taro, you should probably skip something as bad as Ginga.

X is a modern day classic and some of its episodes are all-timers. Its overarching narrative is a little lacking but that's easy to overlook given how most all the episodes stand on their own like a classic Ultra series.

Orb is charming. Problematic and annoying in places and I don't understand the fawning some people do over it but I didn't completely hate watching it.

Yes, Keith said they intend to release the Ultra Galaxy series. OG Gomora did nothing wrong though. He did not deserve to die, damn it.

That's another thing that puzzles me about most of these newer series. They only run half a year. Is this the new norm for Ultra shows?? Man, talk about your short attention spans. Apparently kids can't even be expected to follow something for 6 months before it's felt that their interest will wane and they'll be tuning out so something new is thrown at them to catch their eye... for a few more months. Egad.

Nah, my dude, TPC almost went bankrupt a few years ago. Twenty-five episodes and a movie per season is what they can afford to make at an acceptable quality. Plenty of Japanese kids' shows still average fifty episodes a season.

^ It's particularly a bummer following Ultraman X, which has no fewer than three kickass female leads.

Yeah but X also had episode 3, one of the most egregiously sexist episodes of modern Ultraman. SIGH.
