Yes, I'm a skeptic, a rationalist, and an atheist - kind of at odds with my personality, as I'm not really an analytical or science-minded person. Anyway, I don't begrudge people their religion unless it makes 'em do bad stuff, and even then I don't really think religion is to blame. Religion is like alcohol, it just brings out what's already inside a person (i.e. sometimes bad stuff).

The trifecta - right down the line, for me too. James Randi is my favorite person in the world, and Carl Sagan is my patron saint.

I will say of the kind of stuff that get's posted in this folder:

1. Lack of belief doesn't equal lack of interest. I think Nessie and sasquatch are cool, the same way I think Godzilla is cool. I just don't think any of them are real. This is the same rational summed up by the Monster talk podcast:
http://www.skeptic.com/podcasts/monstertalk/
2. Just because I don't believe in ghosts doesn't mean they don't scare me.
3. If there were any one "Fortean" phenomena I would be likely to cut some slack as far as believability, it would be UFOs. For one thing, literally speaking, UFOs are a fact : Unidentified Flying Objects. If you've ever looked up in the sky and said "what's that?", it's automatically a UFO. Most scientists would concur that there is probably life elsewhere in the cosmos, it's just making the leap to saying that the life has visited this planet where you run into problems. I am... hopeful, that the problem of interstellar travel can and will be solved one day. Lastly, we have demonstrated ourselves that it is possible for an intelligent species to travel in space, land manned spacecraft on other celestial bodies, and send unmanned probes to other planets and even beyond the solar system. Having said all that, I remain unconvinced by any of the UFO encounter stories out there.
