Faulconer FTW. Everyone else is crazy. I'm the only sane one.

I think the main problem with Faulconer's music is that it wouldn't shut the hell up. It's always playing and there's never a moment it turns off during the episode. Granted that wasn't his decision, he wanted moments of silence, but Funimation wanted music throughout the entire show.
I liked Faulconer's music at the time and there are some specific themes I still enjoy, but I've mostly outgrown it. I can deal without his work in DBZ.

So I heard that the followup to this movie will be one centered on Broly (o_o ). Just a rumor for now, but that's crazy if true.

It would definitely seem weird to use Broly assuming the Broly movies ate as chronologically contrary as the other movies.
I don't mind that, since we've always been told the movies are non-canon, but if they were to retcon them, it might feel a little fanfic.

Makes sense since that was the same week as Battle of Gods.

I'm hoping since that's the same then it's likely the nearby theater that had BoG will have this. Still have to drive out of state. :/
WOO, SUPER HYPED.

This will be a rough one for me to attempt to see. I'll likely be starting a new job (at least, hopefully) AND have newborn under/around a week old. Might not happen.

A week old? That's going to be pretty tough. Is it your first?

Dragonball Z: Resurrection of F -
I caught this in the theater tonight (about 90% full). It was ok. The animation is certainly improved and there's enough humor to get a few laughs, but it felt sort of empty. Granted, this was the dubbed version and I strongly prefer subtitles. The story is alright and works well enough in the context of the series, but it also feels like it kills the value of the Frieza saga.
Honestly, I felt bored during the fighting, something that should never be said about DBZ. The music is oddly out of place and there are many scenes where there is no music at all when there probably should be..it seemed so off.
This is definitely a movie in similar flavor to Battle of the Gods. If you enjoyed the humor and battles there, this is something you'll enjoy. I'd go 6/10....and I really wanted to like it more than I did.

I'm seeing it Monday night at the Drafthouse.
Dubbed is my preferred way to watch Dragon Ball from Kai onwards. Every since Funimation decided to take it seriously, they have been knocking it out of the ball park.

Resurrection "F" was fun. It wasn't as good as Battle of Gods and it used wayyy too much CG for characters, but other than that I enjoyed it.

It's shortcomings stem from the fact that, unlike Battle of Gods, it falls victim to the usual DBZ cliches. But I ultimately love it. The animation for the battle sequences made it the best of the series thusfar and the CG didn't distract in the least. It really added some new flavor to it. Some of the cliches could have been subverted had they committed to the ending with Vegeta, but... I guess it's pretty funny looking back on it.
Really, it's Freeza's movie though. He's borderline the main character even though he's the antagonist. The movie begins with him and is largely about his resurrection, playing catch-up and coming to Earth for revenge. We don't see Goku and Vegeta for nearly 20 minutes in. Which is fine, honestly. I've always thought Freeza was the best villain of the series and focusing on him really worked it setting this film apart from others.
Stay for the hilarious post-credits scene.

Finally saw this. I generally agree with most of what's been said. It's fun, but not as good as Battle of Gods, and feels kinda empty. Battle of Gods felt like it was head-and-shoulders above the typical DBZ movie by having a plot, and one that was unique and introduced some new, colorful characters. This sorta feels like a typical DBZ movie. Villain shows up, minor heroes easily dispatch his cronies, but he easily dispatches those minor heroes until Goku shows up, fight, roll credits. It's probably the best-ish version of that typical DBZ-movie formula, but it severely lacks in crafting a movie and a story unto itself. I didn't have a huge problem with the ending as a Vegeta fan, I thought it was still funny, but I didn't like that he's basically sidelined for most of the running time, just watching and not doing much.
The music sucks, also. Reminded me of a lot of the crappy dubs of the DBZ movies that used crappy nu-metal songs.
It's enjoyable, but while Battle of Gods had me SUPER excited about the prospect of furthering the DBZ storyline, this has me back on the "if it continues, cool, if not, cool" side. 3.5/5
