I'm excited for this one. I didn't check out Battle of Gods in theaters because I was only peripherally aware of it and thought it was just another DBZ fluff movie (which, I actually personally enjoy a lot of the movies since I just consider them What Ifs or Elseworlds tales) but knowing this is official and a potential lead-in to a new series...excitement.

I'm aching for a release date on this one. I have a baby coming at the end of July so, I'm sincerely hoping it's before then, or (given how few showings there will likely be) I probably will miss it, which would make me sad.

Funimation's dubs are much better nowadays anyway so I could dig that. Know what I dread, but am curious about?

Canada's Dragon Ball Z Kai dub... Apparently they're getting one this year

<shrug> If it ain't got the Faulconer music, I don't want to hear it in my eardrums.

Exceptions:
Anything where Faulconer music doesn't exist. Without having that better basis for comparison, I'm good with other music. But sweet damn, Perfect Cell ain't Perfect Cell without Bruce's Perfect Cell Theme, and an absolute plethora of other things lack the same punch for me personally.

I don't know what Vegeta is "supposed" to sound like, but I like Sabat as Vegeta. I liked Drummond slightly more, but oh well.

As for script differences, I've seen much ado made about them, but all I've ever really NOTICED when attempting to watch it subbed is swearing, which I don't really care about.

Swearing? No, it is things like added dialog that Funimation did because the characters can never seem to just shut up. Like Freeza asking Goku about the types of flowers he wants at his funeral. That is a made up line and is stupid.

And god no, I don't hate the Falcouner sound track, but it is NOT a Dragon Ball track. It just doesn't fit and like the dialog, it doesn't shut up. In fact, I remember reading a quote from Mike McFarland when he started to dub One Piece and he said something like, "Dragon Ball Z taught me how NOT to dub a TV series."

I'm not feeling it. . I did like Bruce Faulcner's Cell theme though, probably the only one that sticks to my mind at the moment.

As for Shunsuke Kikuchi, I always wished he would have gone on to score a Godzilla film during the 70s. It would have fit Godzilla vs Megalon quite perfectly really, because that movie was closer in line to the Gamera movies, which is what he was known for scoring.

On the subject of soundtracks, it feels like a bummer that Kenji Yamamoto plagiarized his score for Kai because I really liked it. And it's something that went all the way back to his days scoring Zyuranger and I believe Dairanger.

While Japanese music of DBZ is ok, I always felt Faulconer's themes were a little much. There are a few exceptions - I think the Goku theme Jelly posted and Picolo's theme (specifically during the Freiza saga) are great. Most of his other music...meh.

And if that Ocean title song is legit....that is one of the wrost things my ears have ever heard.
