It's be nice if Funimation would hurry the **** up and dub this thing already and then put it out on BD!!!!! They got Kai out so quickly that I thought they were done with this delayed release bull****, especially from Dragonball.

Kain, 20th Century Fox has a first-look option on the DRAGONBALL Z theatrical movies. FUNimation can't do anything with this film unless Fox decides not to distribute it in North America.

Anyway, I saw this a while back and was actually pleasantly surprised. It feels like a legitimate continuation of Dragon Ball Z and the Dragon Ball manga, and well, technically, it is. It's Toriyama-fun-stupid instead of simple-cash-in-stupid. In other words, it's superfluous in the way the original material relished being. If that makes any sense.

Common knowledge? There is a difference between live action and anime. Funimation owns all rights to the Dragonball anime.

Thank you for the clarification kpa. It makes more sense now (still utter bullshit, as Fox will never put the effort into it Funimation will, especially when it comes to dubbing it unless they just flat out let Funi dub it).

Unfortunately, this also means I might as well just go out and download the fansub since it could be 10 years before we get this thing.

^Looking forward to seeing this. In its original format though. (Japanese) I cannot STAND the English dubbing for DBZ. Just horrible.

I love Kai's US dub! But my favorite dub is still the 90s Latino Spanish dub that was dubbed in Mexico. Easily.

We got to see this at the Alamo Drafthouse last night and it was down right incredible. Akira Toriyama was definitely on his A game when he wrote this as it was well written, well paced, it focused more on character development than action, and Beers is probably his most original Dragonball villain ever. In face, Beers was just plain awesome because he was not your typical villain. He had a personality, he had humor, and when he did not get that pudding, you wanted to see him get his revenge. It was also nice to see the cast back after all this time, especially in something that erases that terrible GT from continuity. Of course, this movie also helped make me want Toei to just do an entirely brand new adaptation of the manga without any of the filler or the annoyingly long episodes of pointless banter (and by new adaptation I mean of the whole thing from when Goku and Bulma first met through the Buu saga. Overall, this movie gets a great big 8/10 from me. Not only is it the best Dragonball movie ever, but it is also one of the best Dragonball stories period.

Man this was a lot of fun.

DBZ Battle of Gods: full "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" house, including another 10 people or so in the aisles. families with kids too young to even know the word "anime", couples, and bros bros and more bros (10 people wearing DBZ shirts)

What a fun experience mang. It was just flat out fun.

What an absolute gas. A packed theater of fans young and old, a wonderful story, incredible animation and riotous humor. This was quite the experience-- An excellent play on nostalgia while also delivering a whole lot of fun.

Can't wait for the next movie!

Well I just finished the final chapter of the original Dragonball series and overall, it was utterly fantastic. The adventure of watching Goku go from isolated child to a badass adult was pretty damn awesome, but in some ways, I wish he had stayed a kid. I just find him to be far more interesting as a child than an adult. Nevertheless, the adventures within the series were great and there were a lot of hilarity throughout the series. The Chi Chi fight at the tournament is one of the funniest moments for me. Goku's reaction was great. I also loved the introduction to Pilaf and the breaking the fourth wall bits, along with his disgust over Bulma's vulgarity. However, there seems to be two details missing from the manga and now I'm curious where they came from. The first being why is Pilaf and gang stuck as children? When did that happen for it to be a plot point in both GT and Battle of Gods? Secondly, in the Z anime they said Goku trained in the Room of Space and Time, was that an anime invention? If so, how do they train in the manga during the Cell saga to get stronger? Wait, don't tell me, I'll get there soon enough. My favorite arcs include the first two Tenkai'ichi Bodoukais and the Red Ribbon Army.

Overall, I am glad I have finally had the chance to read through the original series so I now know where everything is in the Z anime. Of course, I've also started watching the DB anime (up to episode 32), but I can't say the anime has grasp me as much as the manga. Nevertheless, I give this series a great 9/10 stars and look forward to reading through the Z portion now.

I finally saw this. It's a fun time, and it definitely makes me want to go back and re-watch all the DBZ stuff, but first I wanna go through Dragonball...which I'm almost through Season 3, The Red Ribbon Army Saga.
