Can you download the shows on Toku to save / watch later ...or must you watch when you click on them? Please forgive my ignorance if this seems like a dumb question, but I do not stream (sat.net w/bandwidth caps).

^ Streaming doesn't involve downloading the digital files to a storage device. It's just like watching a YouTube video on your computer. You select a title, it buffers the video and you can play, pause, rewind and fast-forward at your leisure. You can't save the files onto a personal device but you can access them whenever you want through the streaming service.

You can access streaming services through their websites to stream titles on your computer. A lot of modern electronics can utilize streaming service applications so you can watch them on your TV including most blu-ray players, most modern video game consoles and stream-specific devices like a , and smart TVs should be able to install the streaming service applications without needing an additional device. Right now I'm watching an episode of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia on my TV, streaming it on Hulu using a PS4, and if I stop it now and play it again later it will pick up right where I left off.

^ Sure, with third-party software. YouTube doesn't provide that function as part of their service, though, because it's generally presumed that users don't want their content to be stolen. I was letting Jinzo know that playback on most streaming services works the same way that playback on YouTube works.

Don't quote me on it, but I think Youtube currently allows you to download videos for offline watching through their official app -- I do not recall if you need to be a paying subscriber or not though.

Just got the Toku add-on subscription on Prime and I've been dipping in and out of some of my favorite Ultraman episodes and sampling some of the shows I've never seen before and I'm really digging it. Subtitles are much better, and I was never really satisfied with Crunchyroll's video quality. I've got a lot of stuff to watch!

I'll probably cancel my Crunchy subscription after I watch this season of Thunderbolt Fantasy. Now that Toku has Ultraman, the partnership with FUNimation is done, and with Toonami showing pretty much every new anime I'm interested in watching I think I'm safe dropping it
( of course, I can always just watch it for free with commercials!).

A couple of days ago distributor Right Stuf Anime tweeted a cryptic "any Kamen Rider fans out there?"

Could be nothing, could be something potentially awesome!

^ Ironically, Kamen Rider seems to be the de facto favorite among American tokusatsu fans! I think "untapped" is exactly the right phrase to use.

Toei has a major stick up their butts regarding the Kamen Rider fandom existing mainly because of fansubs, outside of areas like San Francisco and Hawaii, but don't seem to want to do much licensing with it, so I don't get it.

Meanwhile Tsuburaya just surprise-released a dubbed episode of Ultra Fight Victory on YouTube! Stuff's weird.

Speaking of FanSubs... is there a thread here to discuss them openly or is the topic verboten due to their "gray market-ish/underground" nature??

I only ask because I happened across some great new (old) shows which I just found out are now being subbed, and I am bursting with a hyperactive 8 year-old's level of giddy excitement.

I mean, they've been brought up before, and I don't think it's a big issue as long as you're not linking or otherwise directing on how to get the stuff?

I believe that for Discotek's Juspion release they contacted the guys who had been fansubbing it to use their subs as a base for the ones on the official release!

Creating quality subtitles for a show that's almost 50 episodes long is actually quite taxing, especially for a small company.

This may be old news to some, but I just happened across them a couple of days ago after wondering what else might be out there. One link took me to another, and lo & behold there they were. I've already DL'd all of the available episodes of Denziman and plan to grab all of Machineman & Kyodyne. My weekend is already planned out! Whoop! Pizza & tokusatsu!!!

I've always thought Machineman looked like a fun show when I caught some previews and pics, and I had a couple of raw episodes of Kyodyne & Denziman on VHS from a million yuears ago. So very cool to see them getting adapted for us English language fans.

Too bad all of these great shows cannot get: 1) restored & remastered on Blu-ray and 2) released with high quality English subs.

Anyhow, hope this gives a few of you soething to get excited about, if you didn't already know.

Hopefully not a case like where we got that Ultraman Leo stream and then radio silence! But I voted regardless, never know.
