Kaiju no Kami Reviews - Garo (2005) Series and Blu-Ray

Postby Dr Kain » Mon Dec 25, 2017 3:11 am

After spending countless years working for Toei on various Toku series like Sentai and Kamen Rider, and a brief time on some video games like Onimusha and Clock Tower, director/designer Keita Amemiya teamed up with writer Yuji Kobayashi to create their own Tokusatsu series geared towards adults. This show became known as Garo and its central theme revolved around a group of warriors known as Makai Knights who battled evil creatures called Horrors. Garo became a phenomenon that has spun off into additional seasons, movies, specials, and even anime series. Is this season worthy of the title Garo or is this a franchise that should have stayed in the shadows? Watch to find out.

No, the Blu-Rays are not dubbed and they are not altered at all.

^ Just got around to watching this review. Definitely a great series. It's not really like anything live action i've seen before. Very cool.

Yeah it is. Unfortunately, I don't feel any other season has lived up to the first.

im willing to give it a shot, if only because it is so different from anything else i am watching.

On a side note, i've noticed the reviews have grown in length. Is that better for you as a youtuber? i find it daunting to click on a 30 minute video often while I dont think twice if its under 10.

Don't get me wrong, Makai Senki and its follow up movie are both fantastic. I just don't think they manage to top the first season. Makai no Hana is great too, and it has one of the best episodes of the entire franchise (provided you like horror movies), but they really dropped the ball in the character development department.

On the other hand, there was that thing called a The One Who Shines in Darkness. UGH!!
