Hmmm...I guess Geed does work as a Romanization of ジード, but it sure is goofy.

So it's pronounced Jeedo but is spelled Geed?

Well, at least it still makes more sense than My Zhime being pronounced as Mai Otome.

I'm digging the gimmick here, though the device really feels like the Orb Ring without a Ring part.

Looks like the head-director is Koichi Sakamoto. Not super inspiring, as his work has gotten progressively worse. Someone should ask Kiyotaka Taguchi at G-Fest what projects he has lined-up.
The new Gamera will be worse than Super Monster.

^A tad unrealistic to expect a guy to be head director of a TV series three years in a row!

It'd be great if he was doing a movie or miniseries or something with classic tokusatsu effects.

I think Sakamoto does better work under Tsubaraya than with Toei. Ginga S went a long way towards salvaging Ginga, at least.

I'm torn. Aside from one or two shots, his work on X was excellent and some of the most exhilarating in the series. The Ginga S movie, on the other hand, was mostly awful.

Fresh from magazines in Japan: our cast of characters!

http://emceeingly.tumblr.com/post/161131067847

Seems an interesting bunch. I like that there are so many aliens, and after Orb failed on the female front it seems we have a course correction here.

Beware spoilers: this trailer spills the beans on apparently the first episode or two.

Spoiler Below:
Love the shot of the folks displaced due to the monster attack! That's something you rarely see.

HA! Confirmed: clips from the first two episodes! I'm proud of my reasonable guess.

I'm almost positive Cruncyroll will announce this on the day it airs in Japan (as they did with Orb) but man...

Have a really good feeling about this one. I like the setup with him being the villain's son and he's mentored by Zero (who's merged with a hapless salaryman and husband/father), I like how there's a several characters who all seem pretty defined even in previews, and I like that we have two female heroes this time (Naomi's Lois Lane schtick in Orb was a disappointing step backwards).

Orb seems to be terrifically popular, and it feels like it turned some people onto Ultraman, and I like elements of the show but I found it a bit disappointing because I felt the conflict between Gai and Juggler wore a bit thin with 20+ episodes (for, say, a 13 episodes series it would have been fine) and the SSP could be rather useless and even superfluous instead of providing a human anchor to the craziness as has been done so well with previous Ultra shows.

Apparently Tsubaraya revealed in the video description that Geed was coming to Crunchyroll... last week. No one noticed :p

X and Orb went up 1 hour after the Japanese broadcast (sometimes a little bit late). The show airs in Japan at 9 AM on Saturday, JST. You can google what that is in your time zone, last summer in EST we were watching at 9PM.

But whats this about the show starting with a 'Preview Special' ? Are they talking about the one that Tsuburaya's had on their Youtube channel for a week already?

Yep :(
I'll take week late subs over no subs at all. But some days being an ultra fan feels like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football.

^I doubt we'd suddenly get the show a week late. I imagine if anything we'll get both the special and episode one at the same time or maybe a day apart.

... I hope.
