I like the Ultra shows but dislike the fact that the new designs are increasingly just too busy with fiddly bits to differentiate them from past designs. Having a bold new color or shape define the new look while keeping things simple would be much appreciated.

So weird.... the ANN articles cites Tokusatsu Network, which says it's written in English as Zeed.

Ultraman Xead... son of Belial!?

I dig his design. He looks like Zarab disguised as Ultraman from '66. Apparently he'll also have fusion forms, which were such a hit with kids in Orb.

Real question is this: Who is the mother?

Apparently he's in opposition to his father, but Zeed and Zero are also in conflict with each other? Maybe he's an outcast from the other Ultras because of his parentage? Could be an interesting story line. Hopefully we'll get this series over here faster than Orb Origin.

August Ragone spells it 'Xeed' and says it rhymes with 'exceed.' Isn't 'Xead' the officially spelling already?

Hmmm... I seem to recall an iconic Japanese character where a 'j' sound ended up rendered with a 'z' during the Romanization.

Was it Gamera?

I think "xead" pronounced in English comes closer to soft g sound, but they might have decided for something with a more plain spelling. Or it could just be the fevered imagination of whatever Bandai employee put that catalog together.

Telebikun has the official reveal this week, most likely accompanied by some sort of short teaser.

Maybe they didn't want another 'X' name so soon after Ultraman X?
