New Ultraman series for 2017: Ultraman Geed.

really loving the series so far. Was already familiar with Belial through various Ultraman movies that were on YouTube. I really dig the Yugioh/Pokémon esque concept of capsule monsters/powers.

Got my copy a couple of days ago and have gone through the first disc so far. Really fun and interesting series. Not fan of the GIANT transformation device, but it works within the context of the show. Neat idea to combine Ultra heroes AND monsters. Incredible miniatures and excellent opticals. The guys playing Leito/Zero is amazing. Quite happy with this show. Too bad it's only 25eps. Orb is next.

Finished this earlier today finally. I had a bunch of individual issues throughout but overall I came away really loving this series and it was considerably more compelling than Orb. Probably helps too that it's a direct continuation of Zero the Movie, which is one of my favorite entries in the entire series. The movie was solid too. Some pacing, structure, and character issues but, again, I'm a sucker for lore-heavy plots like this and I loved the tropical setting. It's no X movie but it's a fair sight better than the Orb movie and I could see myself revisiting it in the future.

I dig Geed's soundtrack. It's Kenji Kawai back elaborating in his Zero the Movie score and that's GREAT.

I didn't really get into Geed the same way as X and Orb back when it first started streaming, mostly because of the more child-oriented tone and the main character who I found a bit grating, and only got up to episode 9. I've given it another try recently though. I'm not sure if it gets better as it goes along, or if I've just warmed to the show's tone, but I'm enjoying it a lot more now. Episode 20 was outstanding, and there has been a good variety of story types.
